The nature of the Church…the reality of authority of the Church from Christ is* part *of the Catholic Christian’s very conscience.
In the case of one who “dissents” saying “this is contrary to my conscience”…it is not “conscience in conflict with the Church” but rather the conflict is within the person’s own conscience. He has *split *his conscience. He is dissenting from his own conscience.
