The Rev. Walter Cuenin, the pastor at a Newton, Massachusetts parish, has been dismissed for financial improprieties but he long has been a thorn in the Boston Archdiocese’s side with his very public dissenting views. Please refer to the following article in The Boston Globe for more details. Remember, the Globe is notoriously anti-Catholic but the info given should clearly give you a picture of this scandalous priest.

A Priest holding liberal ideas in Massachusetts, I am shocked, LOL
The Boston Globe is liberal ,but. Its work in the scandal was a a service to God . How long would children have continued to be abused and their abusers protected if it wasn’t for the Globe. That it took te Globe to do it, is the shame.

Hmmm.

If the RCC were to be consistent, they would have just relocated him.

**IMHO Those in leadership positions should be held to higher standards. Yes, it is hard on them. But it is what they chose as their vocation.

As examples to the people they are leading they should be above reproach and without scandal. It was their decision to be examples to others. IMHO if they cannot hold to this standard then they should give up the office they hold. If they are not willing to resign then those in charge of them have an obligation to remove them from that position of leadership.

Yes. I agree.

The Boston Globe continues to reinforce dissenting priests views by printing articles and editorials slamming the Archbishop of Boston for ousting Fr. Cuenin. An editorial from today’s paper is one of many examples:
That’s certainly the perogative of the Boston Globe to print those views and certainly the perogative of individuals to buy the paper or not. I sort of look at it this way, it’s just gut check time for Catholics. Hey, I’ve got an idea, let’s all bash the Catholic church for the lousy job they did handling the pedophile priests! The protestants will REALLY like us now. (note sarcasm)

The Boston Globe is a liberal newspaper. It supports liberal causes.
What would you expect it to do in this case ?

Well it looks like Fr. Cuenin is well along his way into official schism with fellow Boston priest Fr. Bob Bowers. Cuenin and Bowers visited Spiritus Sancti parish in Rochester, NY, a schismatic church started by Fr. Jim Callan and The Rev. Mary Ramerman.

Is this the beginning of the official American schism?

The Boston Globe fans the flame of discrimination against the Roman Catholic Church in general.

Reporting the crisis is one thing. Promoting prejudice is entirely another.

250 negative articles against the Church in 100 days.

What is in the Irish psyche? Why do most, if not all, dissenting, at least the ones that grab the media’s attention, religious seem to be Irish? It seems that way in the U.S.

AJC

Well, if it is I won’t mourn the lose of the more rabid dissenters from our parishes. There will be fewer but better Catholics left in the pews of orthodox Catholic parishes. 😉 And that will mean people will have a real choice between being authentically Catholic and just pretending to be in yet another Protestant imitation.

If you take the time to read the John Jay report you will see that efforts were made way before the Globe ran its story.
