Are there other people who feel that breastfeeding during Mass is a real distraction, especially when the Mom is sitting near the front row?
Probably…

I’m not one of them - nurse on, mother and child - but there probably are other people who feel the way you described

Clearly there needs to be a lot of education in your parish if breastfeeding is seen as immodest or distracting. Breastfeeding children is simply not immodest –
You really miss the point. It’s not about YOU or ME, not about Us. What is the Mass itself for? Who ARE we worshiping? As a collective, we should be focused on the liturgy of the Mass, not someone breastfeeding.
Couldn’t agree more here! it is about us, not “you or me.” Us includes babies, who should not have to go hungry because someone else can’t control their eyes. If a person finds something as innocuous and modest as breastfeeding to be a distraction, they should move to the back. Or perhaps take a break in the ladies’ lounge as you suggested.

I think Our Lady will do just fine, thanks.

Ack! I didn’t pay attention to the new account/provocative topic combination.

Ok, I need to reconsider my thoughts on this, I could be wrong. I once saw a woman tap dancing wildly but when I gave her a coin she explained it was cramp.

(The latter is a complete lie, but it’s friday!)

No, maybe I should shorten my sentences, or maybe be more aggressive in my tone somehow. So it just shows you, I’m …surprised. 🙂

Actually the name lee is to protect my anonymity, the number is my real middle name.

But surely your name isn’t Rose!

All I will say is my real name does not include the eureka cross, although I see it everywhere as well as the southern cross 😎

How is breastfeeding in any way immodest? If anything, feeding a child formula should be described this way. I wish I was breastfeed; these damned allergies and other ailments might not be so bothersome. Have seen it happen in Church and couldn’t care less. This is along the same lines as the easily distracted congregant who makes a point out of staring toward a crying baby rather than paying attention to the Mass.

Excessive tattoos and piercings on full display. Once, a communicant ahead of me had at least a half-dozen pearl-head pins in the back of his neck. A woman in a starter jacket whose “tramp stamp” tattoo showed each time she rose.

I had a system of wearing a camisole under my shirt. So I’d pull the top shirt up, and everything else was covered underneath - no need for the booby burka.

God forgive my vanity, but I was usually more concerned about my post-partum gut showing than my built-in baby bottles.

Then there’s the rumble of kneelers being stowed up just before the Lord’s Prayer. You’d think there’s a fire drill in the works.

Not to mention, let’s say a woman is blessed with many children. Let’s say, ten. For how many years is this mom going to have to tromp back and forth, or always sit in the cry room, etc? You think the dad can handle all the rest of the bambinos by himself? For years?

To be completely on subject.

WE ARE ALL DISTRACTED DURING THE MASS NOW?..ALL OF US.
