Can the EMCs distribute holy communion at mass before the priest is set in place and distributes? Is there a GIRM that explains who must start distributing first or is that a custom that the priest begins the distribution to the faithful? Clarification- should priest be first to distribute to the faithful (parishioners at mass).

Well how could an EMC distribute before the priest? I’ve only ever seen the priest distributing to himself first then the EMCs. Unless an EMC snatches it from the priest during consecration I don’t see how this is possible.

Or do you mean distribute to the rest of the parish population

After the priest distributes communion to the EMCs distributes to the faithful at mass. Do the EMCs need to wait until the priest takes his set place and starts distributing communion to the faithful at mass(parishioners). Is there a GIRM to explain who should distribute first? I always thought the priest needs to be set first but is there a GIRM to support?

No.

No.

And no.

I think you need to pause and reflect that you are basically stating that you don’t think your priest knows what he is doing.

No, I am not stating what you typed.

Our parish has had a recent change with using EMCs. They are being sent to the parishioners at a faster pace then in years past. So the EMCs are starting the distribution to the parishioners before the priest is able to get to his “spot.” It seems like they are attempting to get communion done quicker. From my perspective I think we all should wait for the priest to be able to get to his position for distribution to the parishioners. I didn’t know if it is a tradition to wait that I acquired from childhood or if a general instruction exists for distribution for EMCs.

There are no rules for that precise issue. Communion should begin whenever the ministers reach their stations, regardless of priest, EMHC, etc.
