Disturbing FB post

A few evening ago I saw a post by a priest that I am friends with that was a ‘spam’ like link to nude men. I immediately tried to contact the priest and tell him about it, but with no luck, so I called the IT tech at the parish and had him remove the post and link. It was only up for about 10 minutes. The site that it was linked to was disgusting to say the least.

I have not had a chance to speak my priest friend yet, but there is one thing bothering me, I know how spam works on FB. If you click a spam link or go to certain types of pages, they automatically link to your FB wall and news feed.

Do bring this up? Do I just let it go? I am going to see this priest at Mass again as I go to his parish once or twice during the week. Please help.
 
Don’t you think the IT Tech person will let him know he was spammed?
If not, don’t be shy about mentioning the spam. The priest may also want to restrict access to the computer since any user on the PC could have clicked the link. I know I never sign out of my face book account.

Hey, DJalk, that didn’t necessarily happen because the guy clicked on a link: there’s all kinds of malware that can attack your FB acct. (happened to a pastor I knew), so don’t assume the priest actually was at fault.

He may have clicked on something that he thought was a perfectly innocent photo from a friend. I have clicked on things in FaceBook that I thought were from friends, but they turned out to be ads for products I’m not interested in. 🤷

Bottom line, never allow any application to access your information.

Don’t be too worried! I’ve had the same thing happen to three of my friends on facebook. If you click a harmless link to an appropriate news article, your facebook account can be hacked. Then the account starts posting disgusting links and videos. It’s pretty common, and does not mean the person clicked anything bad! So the good news is that this was probably harmless on your priests part! 🙂 Also, I know some of them work by redirecting you to log-in again. I think there are other ones too.

I just don’t click links on facebook!

Ive had my account do the same , i changed passwords and stuff but i end up deactivating it anyway
 
This was one of the reasons why I deactivated my FB account.

I had to change my e-mail because I was getting some very vulgar e-mails sent to me. I knew I hadn’t opened up anything vulgar, let alone sign up for any of these things.

Someone suggested it may have had something to do with my FB account and it was probably hacked.
 
Thanks for the advice. I spoke with the IT person and was assured that it was nothing and no big deal. I just still have this sinking feeling that I can’t get outta my head. With this priest being in charge of a daycare and school (the one my kids go to) I am just uneasy… I guess I need to let it go and trust more.
 
Yeah, don’t worry about it. Back in high school someone hacked a teacher’s profile to put naked women on it. He was embarrassed.
 
As far as I know spam pops up on its own. Tell your priest friend to change his password and if you still have doubt talk to him about it. And pray to God for your friend.
