What does it mean that God loves us? According to the Catholic Church it can’t be a love of emotions, since God is absolute impassible.

Thomas Aquinas said that “to love is to will the good of another”. OK. I get that. But what is the final good that God wants us to experience? The beatific vision perhaps, but what exactly is that?

I believe the Beatific Vision is an ecstasy of love of Christ (the Bridegroom), and our spirit (bride) that is so absorbing that you wouldn’t want to leave it for anything.

The beatific vision is something more wonderful than we can conceive - so it really cannot be described or explained.
Basically it is to be in the presence of God - who Scripture tells us is Love itself - after we have been perfected in Love ourselves. So - the best explanation I can offer is that the beatific vision is the combination and interaction of pure Agape love between created and creator.
