Divine Mercy Chaplet

In the Chaplet of Divine Mercy we pray:
“Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.”

How can we offer Jesus for our sins? What gives us the authority over Jesus to offer Him up? Didn’t he already offer himself to God for our sins?

By uniting yourself with His Holy Sacrifice in your intentions and affections. His Sacrifice was a supreme act of offering to the Holy Father to glorify Him, thank Him, make reparation of our offences against Him and to obtain all that is necessary for us from Him. You unite yourself in intentions and affections with Christ’s Sacrifice when you assist properly disposed at Mass which is the very self-same Sacrifice of Christ at Calvary, perpetually renewed upon the altars of Holy Church. The same Priest (Christ) is offering the same Victim (Christ).

So go to Mass .

With regard to the “Divine Mercy Chaplet” Jesus said “I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My Mercy.”

So is it okay to go to confession on the Saturday prior to the Feast of Mercy which falls on a Sunday? Or during the week the Chaplet is said? I don’t know any parish which offers confession on a Sunday.

I really want to take part in this, this year, but I also want to get it right.

The usual restrictions are that Confession must be received within 7 days of Communion. Not sure if that applies here, though.

Correct, the confession can be in the week following. However, check around. Churches that have large-scale Divine Mercy celebrations often include a period of confessions that Sunday as part of the program. It is worth driving some distance to, if such a church is not nearby.
