When you say the Eternal Father prayer, how can “I” offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ?

That doesn’t make sense to me, how can I offer Jesus to God?

Thanks

Ed

Every Mass offers Jesus to God the Father – the Eucharist is the symbol of this sacrifice, one that happens every day and every hour all over the world. As we are partakers in and of the Eucharist, our participation is part of that sacrifice:

“Pray brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father…”

In the Diary of St. Maria Faustina there was a vision of the Lord Jesus crucified and the Earth. God the Father sees the Sacrifice of His Son and blesses the Earth because of it. God the Father cannot resist to grant Graces when He sees the Cross placed between Him and the Earth. The Divine Mercy Chaplet works on this same principal.

It’s just a way of saying to God - please have mercy on us, and please remember your Son’s sacrifice for us.

You offer Jesus to the Father every time you attend Mass. That is intrinsic to sharing in the common priesthood of the faithful. Both the ministerial priesthood and the common priesthood derive from the Priesthood of Christ.

It’s just a very humble way of asking for mercy.

We have nothing that God needs from us. He’s God.

We are imperfect humans who sin.

All we can do is ask Him to keep in mind Jesus’s passion when considering whether or not to grant us mercy.
