Re: Praying is good but learning how to pray is vital.
Praying is a relationship with God. Praying to other titles and names is not in the bible. Moses was used of God and even Esther was used of God we do not pray to them and there is a reason. First because prayer is a relationship with God. Praying to another name is simply stating to have a relationship with someone other than God. But let’s not take my opinion for it let’s examine the bible together…
Genesis 25:21
Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.
Genesis 25:20-22 (in Context) Genesis 25 (Whole Chapter)
Genesis 32:9
Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, who said to me, ‘Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,’
Genesis 32:8-10 (in Context) Genesis 32 (Whole Chapter)
Genesis 32:11
Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children.
Genesis 32:10-12 (in Context) Genesis 32 (Whole Chapter)
Exodus 8:8
Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the LORD.”
Exodus 8:7-9 (in Context) Exodus 8 (Whole Chapter)
Exodus 8:9
Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”
Exodus 8:8-10 (in Context) Exodus 8 (Whole Chapter)
The above are examples of praying to God in the Old testament. Now note how we are taught to pray in the New Testament
in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you.
Romans 1:9-11 (in Context) Romans 1 (Whole Chapter)

Excuse me, Jessica; if you have any qualms about praying, please do post it in the Apologetics forum for this forum is dedicated for, well, Prayer Intentions and thus, your post would be kind of off-topic.
If you have any objections, start a thread in the Apologetics Forum and there we can discuss about it properly.

Thank you.

We read the Bible just like you do, Jess. We read it right through every three years in our Masses in fact, apart from the private reading most of us here on CAF do. We know those passages and we know how to pray.

We know other passages too - passages where Moses intercedes to avert God’s wrath from the people of Israel after the Golden Calf episode, and the one at the end of Job where God agrees not to punish Job’s disbelieving friends because of Job’s intercession for them. Even in the Gospels the paralytic was healed for the sake of the faith his FRIENDS showed in bringing him to Jesus - it says right there that it was due to THEIR faith that he was healed.

So it’s quite alright to use our friends as intercessors with God. And our heavenly friends, the saints, are just as alive in Christ as we are. That’s why the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is God of the LIVING not the dead - they (Abraham, Issac and Jacob) are alive. If alive they can pray for us and are bound to pray for us as we all are commanded to pray for each other.

So thanks, but we do understand what we’re on about.

Heavenly Father,
we offer this Divine Mercy Chaplet for the needs of all CAF members and their loved ones.

Especially for those who are ill or dying, for the souls of unborn children,
and for those who perpetuate the culture of death in all its forms,
including abortion and euthanasia.

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;

Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

I believe in God the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Amen.
