This morning, Pope Benedict is offering Mass in honor of Pope John Paul II’s third anniversary of death and to begin the Congress. It is now showing on EWTN, to be repeated at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. eastern time.
Many who expressed disappointment that their parish did nothing for Divine Mercy Sunday last week will be encouraged that this Congress is exploring in depth the message of Divine Mercy espoused by John Paul and St. Faustina.
As we read in her Diary, Our Lord told her that it was HE who would convict the clergy (and ultimately the world) that this message of Divine Mercy is His Divine Will. We may be confident that, yes, this will be made manifest in a greater degree than ever through the Congress in Rome. Let’s unite and support their work with our prayers.
We trust that next year, more priests will have been touched by God in order to embrace the message and bring it to the people with more solemnity than the complete avoidance I read occurred in many parishes. In our charity, kindly refrain from being disconsolate if your priest failed to observe it. There was a time that I, too, was not in the slightest bit interested in practicing yet another new devotion. As God convicted me and changed my heart, I trust His all-powerful Will to be made known universally.
