When I worked at a Catholic bookstore, I saw a Divine Mercy pamphlet that had this quote on it:

“If one in a family honors My Mercy, I will save that whole family” -Jesus, Milan 1969

Is there any truth to this? If so, it’s a great relief!

I don’t believe this. If a member of said family is obstinate in his sin/rejection of God he cannot be saved.

Why is the exact source of the private revelation not cited? Milan, 1969? What’s that?

It’s a private revelation. Catholics are free to believe or not to believe in private revelations. No one really knows if Jesus said it or not. We have to draw our own private conclusions.

I don’t think this belongs to the revelations of Jesus Christ to St. Faustina as St. Faustina died on 1938 already.

This may be from a seer called Mamma Carmela Carabelli, whose writings have been approved.
I would be careful of seers who tour around the world saying Jesus personally talked to them just like Vassula Ryden and Christina Gallagher.

If the revelations are true, true visionaries would usually go to convents and stay there for the rest of their life just like Sister Menendez, St. Bernadette, Sr. Lucia of Fatima, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa etc.

Happy Easter, Jack

He may have, but it should be understood in the context of grace being provided for one’s family to be saved. God does not force one to convert. He desires us to cooperate freely with Him. It’s always a consolation to know you have a guaranteed Higher Power working with you on your relatives and friends

Also our Lord told St. Faustina in 1935: “Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with my will.” No doubt the salvation of your family is compatible with God’s will.

IDK, have to remember back when Jesus was walking the earth teaching, he was saying many things that ‘upset’ a good deal of people, things that went against popular sentiment at the time.

It would only make sense revelations, even private ones from Jesus would have the same effect about ‘popular’ beliefs on the people living today.

If statements/ revelations from Jesus DID NOT cause any controversy or outrage, I think that would be more cause for concern actually…kind of along the lines that if everyone in secular society likes and agrees with things you say, most likely there is a problem, should be the exact opposite.

One needn’t join a convent to avoid touring around the world 😉 Mrs Carabelli seems to have stayed home and gathered her children to pray, and this spread, without her encouragement, to the international level.

Well, Jesus told St. Faustina,
Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer: 'O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.’” (Diary, 186-187)
If one says the above prayer for each member of one’s family, through the Mercy of Jesus, they will all be saved.

Not to sound too blunt Josie, but Jesus said “I will give him the grace of conversion.”

He or she still has to cooperate with that grace which hopefully they will.

🙂

I don’t think that was blunt at all. Thank you for your comment. 🙂
