Divine Mercy novena begins today on Good Friday;

Jesus promised anyone who says the divine mercy chaplet for the nine days (starting on Good Friday) and confesses on or before the Sunday after Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday), that not only will all their sins be forgiven but also the entire purgatory that their soul has earned up until then, will also be erased, and also any punishment they have earned on earth because of their sins will also be erased 🙂
Saint Pope John Paul II as Pope approved this Divine Mercy Feast Day and those promises for the entire Catholic Church as an official church feast day 🙂
 
The person making the novena must also do one deed of mercy on Divine Mercy Sunday (a merciful prayer, deed or words to someone).

And if possible, go to a Divine Mercy Sunday mass (on Divine Mercy Sunday, where the Divine Mercy image will be on display, and confessions),

Another obligation of.the novena is to publicly venerate the Divine Mercy image (at a Divine Mercy Sunday mass if possible, eg genuflecting before the Divine Mercy image on the way out of church ,)

A person must also attend Mass and Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday in a state of Grace.

Venerate an image of Divine Mercy Jesus on Divine Mercy Sunday.
And do works of Mercy.

The Novena is asked but not essential.

To recap the essentials are
  1. place complete trust in Jesus
  2. Go to Confession on Divine Mercy Sunday or within 7 days before or after.
  3. Sincerely repent of all our sins
  4. Receive Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday
  5. Venerate the image of The Divine Mercy
  6. Be merciful to others through actions , words, prayers on their behalf
  7. Celebrate the feast on the first Sunday after Easter.
This is an Indulgence given directly from Jesus.

A Plenary Indulgence was also granted by the Vatican, but is different to Jesus complete forgiveness of sin and punishment.

Very importantly

There must be acts of Mercy by us. And worship of the Mercy of Jesus Christ through celebration of the Feast and Veneration of the Image which is painted

The image will give Grace to souls. Jesus said

It is to be a reminder of the demand of my Mercy, because even the strongest faith is of no avail without works (diary 299,699 & 742)

You can celebrate the Feast at a normal Mass, personally , on Sunday or with a group , if there is not an advertised Mass. because this is a Feast day by order of the Vatican.
 
Tell your friends, tell everyone, even those lukewarm and hardened sinners!

I am going to do the Novena for the First time
this year, I pray that the indulgences I gain
may profit my deceased relatives!!

Was praying day 2 of the Divine Mercy chaplet yesterday and fell asleep while praying!!! 😦

Have I missed out on all the graces and promises of the novena for this year.or can I simply join in the rest of the novena.and pray 2 chaplets today instead??
(any official rules out there on what happens.to people who miss a day of the divine mercy novena?? ;( 😦 😦 😦

I did the same thing and missed day 3 of the Novena,
I believe that if we sincerely INTEND to do the Novena,
our missing one day can be overlooked, just say it again
asap. May God in His mercy overlook our omission!!
