So I’m doingthe Divine Mercy Novena. I have run into a small problem. By all means, I should finish the prayers and chaplets. And I will be at mass on Sunday for the feast of Divine Mercy. However, I’ve run into a small problem with my confession during this time. Confession at my parish is Saturday. The problem is I have job training in another state on Saturday. I’ll be back late Saturday night, but I’ll miss confession. So, I’ve determined that I could call my parish and set up a private confession, go to another parish during the week, or just not go to training(which I could go without). What should I do?🤷

I would explain my situation to my parish priest and hopefully he would make himself available for my confession or perhaps refer me to another parish priest that could do it.

Pray that God make it possible for you to make it. By all means, please make all possible attempts to ensure you make a Confession as Divine Mercy Sunday is the priceless gift of God’s great mercy to His children. Don’t let the evil one prevail and keep you from God’s infinite ocean of mercy!

Praying for you. Peace.

I believe that as long as you resolve (and do so!) to go to confession at the earliest opportunity, you are fine.

I do know of another parish in the next town that has confession on Monday. I just didn’t know if I needed pastoral approval.

You don’t need pastoral approval.

Also, as long as you go to confession within 8 days of the Feast you’ll be fine - that’s anytime between today and May 4.

At our Divine Mercy celebration, confession is offered about half an hour before, for those who still need to go. You can call and ask about that before you leave for your training, or maybe leave training a few hours early?

I’m not sure what your question is. Some folks think that they must go to confession immediately before Divine Mercy Sunday in order to receive the plenary indulgence. If that is your question, you have 20 days before or after the feast to go to confession.

If you are not in the state of grace, then yes, you need to go to confession. However, keep in mind that there are numerous other ways to obtain a plenary indulgence, if you miss out on D.M. Sunday. The Church is very rich in giving grants to the faithful for that purpose. If you need more info, please let me know, and I’ll post some of them.

By the way, your novena still counts, so don’t quit now. 😉

I phoned a parish that I had never been to the other week for confession and he said come in before Mass.

Just an update. I decided to do my training another time. Wasn’t essential and can be done later. Ill just enjoy confession on Saturday.🙂
