Would you like to participate in the Divine Mercy Novena with other Catholics here on CAF? In addition to the powerful prayer of the Divine Mercy, indulgences are attached to Divine Mercy Sunday, and linked below. And what better time to start a devotion to the Divine Mercy, or even enhance your prayer and spiritual life with it, than the same time one of the greatest supporters of the Divine Mercy become a saint?! 🙂 (St. Pope John Paul II)

I will post daily (in this thread or separate post? Which would be better?) the prayer for the day as a reminder for all to pray their Novena. I will post either early in the morning (overnight hours) or in the late morning/early afternoon.

Here are some links with background info and to help you get started:

Thank you! I’d leave it on the same thread. I noticed when
the Consecration to Mary thread started a new thread was
done daily and it became confusing.

This is wonderful!!! Thank you so much for doing this! I will pray it with our brothers and sisters at CAF!

God Bless you.

ccmcmg,

i want to be part of it as well. i have read a lot about the novena and about Divine Mercy Sunday. i have a question about it though, that perhaps you or another poster could help me with. it requires performing an act of mercy each day and i am not sure what qualifies as an act of mercy. Can someone give me some examples? BTW, i have very little if any contact with humans on most days, so i need some examples that i can do from a small rural farm.🤷

The spiritual works of mercy are:

To instruct the ignorant;
To counsel the doubtful;
To admonish sinners;
To bear wrongs patiently;
To forgive offences willingly;
To comfort the afflicted;
To pray for the living and the dead.

I would say you can do these from anywhere. Many can be done right here on CAF…instructing, counseling the doubtful (although some people do take it a little far admonishing sinners here and in real life 😉 ).

Perhaps praying for the living and the dead, forgiving others and bearing wrongs could be works of mercy that you keep in mind and practice.

As indicated on the EWTN website, each day is dedicated to a specific intention:
DAY 1 - All mankind, especially sinners

DAY 2 - The souls of priests and religious

DAY 3 - All devout and faithful souls

DAY 4 - Those who do not believe in Jesus and those who do not yet
know Him

DAY 5 - The souls of separated brethren

DAY 6 - The meek and humble souls and the souls of children

DAY 7 - The souls who especially venerate and glorify Jesus’ mercy

DAY 8 - The souls who are detained in purgatory; and

DAY 9 - The souls who have become lukewarm.

:thumbsup:thanks, i am excited to learn some of the Catholic devotions.

I’m definitely in. I’m reading St. Faustina’s diary at the moment, and it’s such a blessing… wonderful words. Got it from the library, but I’m thinking I’m going to have to buy myself a copy now. 👍

I will join you:

“Eternal Father, I offer you the body and blood,
soul and divinity of your Only Begotten Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins
and the sins of the whole World!”

For those of you who do NOT wish to follow this thread and would prefer it to be sent to your email daily (sorry, not from me, though!), please go to this link: Pray More Novenas: Divine Mercy and subscribe that way.

God bless y’all! (and pray for me, please! I haven’t done the Novena before, nor have I ‘led’ anything like this online. Thanks!)

Thank you for joining us in prayer. Please pray at your own time, or join with the thousands praying at 3:00 PM (in almost every time zone!).

DAY 1:
Pray the following prayer, along with the Divine Mercy Chaplet
, preferably in front of the Divine Mercy image. (In original post in this thread, or at 3.bp.blogspot.com/-Te6ixLjRLUo/UV9NoBtz4EI/AAAAAAAABJQ/cyNFgoz1p0w/s1600/divine-mercy.jpg )

Today bring Me all mankind, especially all sinners.

Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins, but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen.

For all Devout and Faithful Souls
“Today bring to Me All Devout and Faithful Souls and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought Me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were that drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness.”

Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in the great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your Merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.
