So I just made confirmation on the Easter Vigil, and I do feel the Holy Spirit in my life.

I had a few questions about Divine Mercy Sunday.

I read somewhere that it was written in Faustina’s Diary, and was upheld by John Paul II, that if you take confession, go to mass, and partake in the Eucharist, that all sins will be fully placed in remission by Christ.

If venial sins are forgiven in Eucharist, and all during Reconciliation…then isn’t that a no brainer? Or am I misunderstanding the concept of sin and its lasting on us?

A couple things. First forgiveness of sins doesn’t remove temporal punishment.

An imperfect example, but hopefully helps:
If your son is in the backyard and hits a baseball through your neighbors window, your neighbor - being a good Christian - will forgive him. However, he would still have to pay for the window. Sin is kind of like that. You may still have some cleaning up to do for the damage caused by your sin.

The promise of Divine Mercy Sunday, is not just forgiveness of sins (Confession is required and handles the forgiveness part). It also removes all temporal punishment due to all sins you’ve ever committed. This is a great promise!
