I live in Australia and recently bought this Christian Prayer book for the Liturgy of the Hours, i was unaware however that i might have needed to buy an Australian version.😦

Will it be much difference using the American version, or should i get an Australian one? 🤷

Well the Australian version will have the saints proper to Australia, that the N. American one won’t.

The Australian/English/Scottish/Welsh official Liturgy of the Hours is the 3-volume “Divine Office”, and the shorter version without Office of Readings is Daily Prayer.

Both Divine Office/Daily Prayer and Liturgy of the hours/Christian Prayer use the 1963 Grail psalter psalm translations, but the DO/DP uses the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition readings from Scripture, whereas LOH/CP uses the New American Bible

Some other translation differences here:

Always best to use the official texts of your area of residence. Of course using the Latin Editio Typica is OK as well 😉

If you’re praying it by yourself/with family then go ahead and use it, but if you are praying it with a larger group, perhaps in church, then you will find it hard to use the American version. Aside from the psalms, everything else is a different translation - though recognizable.
