Divinely Inspired Texts

I don’t have a great understanding of this topic but what i do know or think I know is that the books of he Bible were chosen because they coincided with tradition. My question is how do we know which books were divinely inspired? or How do we know that any were divinely inspired and we shouldn’t simply rely on the pope being guided by the Holy Spirit?

They were first selected in the consecutive regional councils of Hippo, Carthiage 1 & 2 ~390 A.D… This list would be left alone by tradition until the protestant reformers came on the scene and started trying to drop books out of the bible (more than just the 7 OT DC’s). This lead to the eccumenical council of Trent which defined the Canon as being no less than the 73 books originally affirmed at Hippo over a millenia before Trent.
