I came across this Islamic page in a google search which says why Christ is not Divine.

islam-guide.com/ch3-10-1.htm

I know Muslims don’t believe in the Divinity of Christ, but rather that he was a great prophet. I found it interesting to read some of their reasoning and I have to admit that I hadn’t noticed some of the things they said. I was wondering what some of you thought. What would be some ways to counter the arguements such as Jesus having to try multiple times to perform a miracle? (symbolic?) What about Jesus having limited knowledge?

The Lord’s supposed limited knowledge is a popular theme for Muslims who engage in apologetics with Christians. Jesus’ words in reference to the end times is seen by them as a sure sign that He wasn’t/isn’t God Incarnate. But, to the contrary, Jesus did have the information since, as God, He possesses all things; in the humility of His humanity, though, He chose (an act of human will) not to “look”,and this was because the time of His Second Coming was not to be part of the Revelation of the Incarnate Jesus to the Church. That’s all His statement about the “Father alone knows” means: that the time of the Second Coming is withheld from the revelation of the New Covenant (which comes to us through the Incarnate Christ).*

Remember, too, that Christ is not only in the Nature of God, but of Man, and so in His human nature He is able to (and does) grow in the knowledge and wisdom that pertains to being a Man. So when addressed about “the End” we see Him limiting His answer to what He knows as Man, because this is information that is not for mankind to know, only to be prepared for. As St. Augustine said, “It was no part of His teaching duty to make it [the day of the General Judgment] known to us.”

Here’s a good article from THIS ROCK fyi:

From what I have seen on this Forum, they won’t accept your arguments anyway. They don’t believe historical evidence or anything that contradicts what they have been taught and believe that the Bible has been corrupted by men, although their only evidence for this is that if it isn’t in the Q’uran, it was made up or changed by the early Christians.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much since they don’t believe the Crucifixtion even occured. It seems they’re rewriting our Bible too and not just the “early Christians” as they believe occured. And besides, the Christ gave us the Spirit and the Spirit’s role in our salvation was to inspire the Old Testament prophets to foretell Christ’s coming and speak through them the Words of God intil Christ came. So our Bible is no different than their Quran (assuming in this sense the Quran was divinely inspired). PM me if you have more questions.

I’ll be honest a lot of the stuff is tough to counter. There’s no doubt that some tings in the Bible make it appear that neither Jesus nor the Apostles thought Jesus was God.

But there is also overwhelming evidence where Crist claims to be one with the Father and God. Same goes for the Apostles. As far as Jesus being limited in his hometown and failing at a miracle, I don’t know. God as a human is a mystery and will remain that way for me when I die. I believe because of what faith has done for me.

But the nature of God, Christ’s relationship wit the Father, and yet one in being with God the Father and the Holy Spirit is something that is tough to comprehend, and tougher to explain.

Yeah, I’m not worried about it and I have a pretty basic understanding of what they believe. I want to have some apologetic skills and that means being able to provide at least a basic answer to the various sort of objections one could have with my Catholic beliefs. Thanks for the (name removed by moderator)ut and keep it coming.

You should get a book called The Bible and The Qur’an. It is written by Father Jaques Jomier, O.P. and published by Ignatius press. This will cover many, if not all, of the issues you need to know.

What do you think about the fact the last pope said that Moslems and Catholics worship the same god?

Jews, Christians and Muslims do worship the same God. We all worship the God of Abraham but Jews and Muslims don’t fully understand the God of Abraham who is one God comprises the Trinity.

I disagree. I think Christians and Jews worship the same God but that Moslems worship Satan. I believe this because in Islam, what they deem to be good and evil is often the opposite of the Judeo-Christian idea.

A good comparison is given at this site…
Allah of Islam, Is He Yahweh God of the Bible?

To put it another way, Muslims THINK they are worshipping the God of Abraham. Don’t get me wrong, their religion is still nothing short of a badly masked death-cult.

I would accept that they think that they are worshipping God, but they are not.

I think that the Pope was wrong for saying that they are worshipping the same God.

Their ideas are so warped. I don’t know of any other major religion that has approval of violence as a major plank of it’s catechism

But one can even ‘believe’ in God and still not be following God…“For “the devils also believe and tremble,” as the Scripture tells us.”

Augustine - Homily X quoted at ccel.org/fathers2/NPNF1-07/npnf1-07-141.htm#P4618_2490251

It is very possible that he was. There’s a reason this would never be made into an official pronoucement.

Sometimes I wonder whether the Pope actually had a positive opinion about Muslims in general (talk about your head in the clouds!), or if this was nothing more than an attempt at better relations with them.

We really need to learn from history though. There is no way to “reconcile” anything with Muslims. It’s about time we just called a spade a spade.

It’s certainly good to see that the current mob are awake to the problems of Islam. One bloke recently said that the church has been in dialogue with Islam for 50 years and not seen one iota of compromise from them, if the following is true…

So the trinity consists of Allah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit?

Not sure I understand what you are saying.
The Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons in one divine nature.
For us that is the God of Abraham.
The Jews and Muslims believe in one God and that God is the God of Abraham. To that extent we all believe in the same God but its just that Jews and Muslims don’t understand that the one God is not one person.

However, Muslims believing in the God of Abraham is about the only thing we have in common. Islam, as we know, is a false and violent religion and Mohammed was a false phrophet and the anti-Christ.

We don’t believe in the same God as Moslems. By worshipping another creature but calling it ‘God’ (or even 'The God of Abraham) does not make their god God.

The God of Abraham is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, according to the RCC.
The God of Abraham is Allah, according to Islam.

The RCC says that they have the God of Abraham in common.

What is even more worrying is that Islam denies the deity of Jesus, and their religion should be considered as anti-Christian.

How does the RCC reconcile a God of an anti-Christian religion the same as their trinity?

The most horrible thought enters my mind: Could the Roman Catholic Church be wrong?
