The issue of Judas’s true nature or someone’s perception of it was raised by a catholic poster some time back, when people were discussing backsliding and falling away, and I don’t remember who it was, but they said something to the effect that Judas was the perfect example of one who had walked with Jesus, been close to Him, and fell into sin! I countered with, I believed that his heart was dierty from the beginning. Jesus knew he was a devil(John 6:70), but also knew the time was not right for Judas to be exposed. The Sanhedrin had to find a way to convince the Romans that jesus needed to die; but knew that they could not do it themselves. It was God’s perfect plan played out to perfection. So, no, I do not, nor have I ever(especially after learning more about him) believed that Judas was remotely as holy as Peter, Paul, or even John! God used Judas just like Satan did, and the results were, well, eternal!šŸ‘

This is all so hard to read…I am an x-Jehovah Witness who to me seem to be way harder on their people than Catholic but I had no idea how difficult the Catholic Church on divorces. I do not wholeheartedly agree with their teachings, but then again there were always disagreements in the church since its birth, so its not a sin to not completely agree. I always remember that above all men is GOD and GOD will allow people to divorce and he did with the JEWS whether he was happy or not with it, he allowed it with the Hebrews…Yeah.>IN THE BEGINNING that was not his intent - and I am sure that his intent was that we were PERFECT but we are NOT perfect. Please GOD divorced his first born Israel for her adultery…this is a clear sign that there are reasons WHY we can also remarry.

So, to me, let GOD talk to you on this, MEN are still MEN, traditions are traditions…I love that the Catholic Church makes it difficult for divorce so that you can respect and fulfill the sacrament but when you have good reason for divorce - then I believe GOD would love to see people HAPPY again and not alone…We are not meant to be alone and we should not be punish for it. Our wages of sin IS DEATH…we will all pay for it with just that…our own death…

Im currently dating a Catholic girl, who I love with ALL MY HEART who is going to go through an annulment, who went thru hell in her marriage, and still remained faithful…YET THE CHURCH (not necessarily GOD) will have to free her to marry me, and because my FAITH is great in GOD and he has done wonders in my life, he will make this happen how he chooses to…

so that you all are aware I am currently enrolled in the RCIA program. I was a catholic born but raised as a JW …glad I am not with them and proud to one day say I am now a fully confirmed Catholic …I may not agree on everything they teach but if you are like me and study early church fathers, they didnt even agree on allot of things and surprisingly enough this is one area of what I know they struggle with…

Best of luck in your faith journey, richlo

Hey, richlo, may the Lord God Almighty guide you through this trying time, and lead you to a place that He has planned for you(Jeremiah 29:11)! Go Braves!( Can’t help it; I’m a Dodgers fan)šŸ‘

Can’t fault ya. I’d do the same. I am a fan of two teams: The San Francisco Giants and ANYBODY who plays the Los Angeles Doggies! šŸ˜‰

I already predicted a loss tonight for us anyway. Bumgarner is a great kid, good pitcher, lots of talent, but he’s not at a Derek Lowe playoff level and the Braves have their backs against the wall. I predict a game five victory with Lincecum next time. Go Giants!

Wh. at a dilemma; surrounded by people from the church who is strictest on divorce and remarriage; and looking at two teams, neither of which I am fan! Oh well, go Phillies! New footlong Subway Club sandwich:$5, Venti Starbuck’s Mocha Chip Frappuccino:$4.75. Barry Bonds without a World Series ring: Priceless!:thumbsup:But, on the serious side, I believe that all of us Christians, regardless of our affiliation, should be more diligent in stressing the importance of God in your marriage; the pain of divorce(to God also), and ensure that young couples, especially understand the gravity of what lifetime marriage entails. And yes, we should follow God’s rules for marriage and against divorce!šŸ™‚

We all know that rings aren’t everything. We can’t gauge greatness by championships or else men like Karl Malone, Eric Dickerson, Gary Payton, Dan Marino, Will Clark, and a huge host of other great athletes, legends, are just worthless. Home run king…never tested positive, rest my case. I work with a lady at my school, who happens to be a raging Giants fan (she’s intelligent obviously šŸ‘:p) and she was at the game in San Diego where Barry broke the record. She was stoked. If you’re not a fan of the Phillies or the Giants and you live in California, I’m puzzled as to why you’d pull for Philly. You must like the Doggies (smog or gang bangers anyone?:p) Oh well, you’ll likely get your wish to see my Giants get hurt. Philly is a formidable, talented, mammoth team with one heck of a roster. I’m honored we get to play them. It’s a high level of competition.

While I lament your Barry-hate, I agree with your sentiment about divorce. Always a tragedy, something to be discouraged if possible, marriage needs to be respected and supported by our culture more, and we need to value it more in the Church. Too true!

Baseball! Boring. But then I guess I should not complain. We are in FIRST place. For being the biggest loosing team ever:eek:

Now FOOTBALL, HOCKEY, now thats a different story!šŸ˜‰

But it is a shame how marriage has really become a thing of the past. Sports are unreal today. MY OWN MOTHER is 78 now and says do not call me if a Steeler game is on! You have all week to call, if you cant do it then, forget about it.

It is a shame how faith is not that important anymore. But then again there is that quarterback who just went pro (can’t remember his name, my Mom knows she talks about him all the time, he played for the Gators. T O or something. He seems to have very high morals. Which is good to see. And then Warner, he did do us proud. Now he is Dancing with the stars. (the only reason Mama’s watching:eek:). Whats he got like a hundred kids:

We got Troy, Do you guys ever see how he blesses himself on the field after every play. He is always praying!! Now thats awesome.

And believe it or not BEN FOUND GOD!! He said he does, Lets give him the benefit of the doubt. :o

Now Tony was a great example for marriage and faith. He used to be our assistant coach you know. His team said he never even said a bad word. And when he lost his son, his faith was amazing.

Sorry rambeling. Gotta go, day off, gotta take Mama to the track!!

Oh Geeze, Mama just called, I am running late. And by the way she said it TEE BOW for goodness sakes:p

GO REDSKINS! And you’re right, faith does not take center stage and we have made divorce too easy! Today, I cheer for anyone who has been married ten years or more! One more thing about Judas; regardless of what you think his role was, remove him from the equation, and then tell me how the story would have played out!šŸ‘

Oh Yes, how could we forget Judas. Okay since we are off topic anyway, here is how it is.

See I hear from Protestants all the time, (even some Catholics sometimes believe it or not) say that if Judas would have not betrayed Jesus, he would not have died.

I am like oh yeah right.

Judas has nothing to do with Jesus dying on the cross. Rather Judas did or did not betray Jesus, Jesus knew he was going to die on the cross. Thats why he came.

People forget God knows every, before, present and future. Jesus knew we would not accept him. Jesus knew he was going to die. But it never made Judas do what he did, Jesus just KNEW what Judas was going to do. He knows everything. He even told Judas he was going to do it.

Even if Judas would have used his free will, which he had and not betrayed Jesus it still would have went down the same way. Jesus was here to die for our sins.

The only way Jesus would not have had to die, was if we would have accepted him. Then he would never had to have died for our sins, and he would have known he was not going to have to die on the cross before he came, just like he knew he was going to.

People do not understand Peter either. When Peter said actually the opposite of Judas, when Jesus told him they were going to kill him, Peter was like NO, lets not let this happen, Then Peter was called a devil. Jesus was not really saying the devil entered Peter like people think. What Jesus was saying was Peter you are acting as a human, and wanting to do what man thinks, and would do. I do not follow man, I follow God. I will do the will of my Father no one will stop me. Peter never could understand until long after what God was really telling him. We would have done the same thing, think about it. Its our instinct to protect the ones we love.

It wasnt until long after that Peter saw that if Jesus would not have done what he did, then Man could not be free from sins.

But what I am saying is that even if Peter would not have done what he did, and even denied Jesus, and Judas would not have done what he did Jesus was still going to die, It was his fate and he knew it.

So, according to your theory, you could take Judas out of the picture; and everything still works out the same! Why do you suppose Judas was there in the first place?

Simple to show us good choices in life and bad ones and what we can do with them.

Like Peter, if you could blame Judas for the death of Jesus, why not Peter? Did Jesus not also tell Peter he would betray him. Did Peter not also sin.

You see lb everything you have done, will do etc God already knows. Your life is kinda like a book and he knows how it ends. But by giving us free will he lets us write that book ourself. That is why it tells you in the bible God knows who are his and who are not his from ths start.

Back to Judas, did Judas sin anymore then Peter. Not really they both betrayed Jesus did they not? Can you blame the death more on Peter or Judas? Think about what Jesus did, he told them both they would betray him. No one really sees sometimes what Jesus wanted them to see. They just see Judas as the bad guy, the one that gave into the devil. Lets face it, they both did. And who loves Peter more then I, I am a Catholic, He was our first Pope for goodness sakes.

But its the lesson here Jesus showed us.Peter repented, they claim he cried so hard he had big welts on his face. But Judas could not face his sin and repent, he took the easy way out and hung himself. Do you not think God would have forgiven Judas the same as Peter?

Now go back to Peter, did Jesus not tell Peter he was sent here to die, did he not tell Peter the devil entered him because he was trying to stop him from doing his Fathers work. BUt see in Peters heart he was not trying to do that, he loved Jesus so much that he didn’t want Jesus to die, I mean come on, would you not have done the same thing. If someone you loved with all your heart and soul said they are going to kill me, would you not say No, I will stop them, Let me hide you. Back to my point Jesus knew Peters real heart. ANd Jesus knew the devil wanted Peter the most because he loved Jesus so much.

But Jesus also knew Peter would repent, and be just fine. Thats why Jesus gave him the keys to the kingdom from the begining, and picked him first etc. He knew how it would play out, and thats why when he came back he said 3 times. Remember 3 times, how many times did Peter betray Jesus, Yes 3 times. But he said 3 times Peter do you love me, Thats when Peter knew, Jesus you don’t have to ask, and I know now. You indeed know everything. That why Jesus said you will remain with those keys to the kingdom. Because GOd is never wrong. and GOd knew Peter would still be human and sin, but he was still one of his.

Just like he knew the day we came into this world who are his, and who are not. It has nothing to do with him loving one person more then another. He loves us all, He has everything to do with us loving him and making the right choices. and when we fail, to be like Peter and repent, ask for forgiveness and move on to continue to try to do his work.

So, according to your theory, you could take Judas out of the picture; and everything still works out the same! Why do you suppose Judas was there in the first place?
And Yes, absolutely, You could take Judas out of the whole thing, And Jesus was still going to die, because he knows we are sinners. And he came here for OUR SIN.

No such thing as divorce. This is beautiful as it is the easiest way to determine false religion.

In my search I have been able to spot hundreds if not thousands of satanic cults that claim to be Christian by this one simple fact.

ā€œThe only time a marriage can be annulled is if there was no marriage in the first place.ā€ Jesus Christ Almighty!

Did Jesus really say this, or are you just ending your post emphatically?

Okay, using your words, God knows everything you’ve done, are doing, and will do. Would this mean that He knew that Judas would betray Jesus? I can’t believe that this was just happenstance:rolleyes:And I believe there is a difference between denial, and betrayal; at least for most people! I think Jesus used Peter’s denial to illustrate grace and forgiveness; especially since Peter felt so lost and terrible after Christ died. Neither Judas nor Peter were directly responsible for Christ’s death(it had to happen), it was the Romans and Jewish High Council! He was a threat to their religion, because He told the Truth! God’s plan worked to perfection, and the prophecies of Isaiah, and Zechariah came true, just as related. It was no accident that Judas was one of Christ’s "disciples. I don’t believe though that he was ever as faithful as John, Peter, or the others, so the fact that he ā€œfell away,ā€ is not a surprise. Read John 6:70, where Jesus identifies one of them as a devil, whose heart is dirty!
