I thought this would be an interesting illustration. I learned that 78% of all first time marriages last. It’s the 22% that divorce and remarry to divorce again that make the statistic look really worst than it really is. 22% is horrifying, but to discourage people from marrying has been the fruit of that statistical misrepresentation that I believe is being propagated by popular media.

Young people need encouragement, not scare tactics.

I thought more than 50% of first marriages end up in divorce. I do hope there will be less and less marriages that break apart.

There seems to be an underhandedness by the media to give us the illusion that we might as well give up on that old institution of marriage and just sleep with each other. The problem is that many clergy, Protestant and Catholic, are not really motivated by statistics and don’t see the problem. I don’t know why but it does seem to be a huge misrepresentation of the facts. I’ve worked for 2 men that are in multiple divorces and marriages. One of them was on his 6th wife. My current one is on his 3rd wife. I’ve learned of many others that are the same and it is far more common to see this than people care to belief. Why, because its rather twisted for someone to be like this and everyone seems to know its wrong.
