I pray that my husband Todd has a change of heart and decides not to go forward with divorce. I am a recovering alcoholic and the wreckage of my past has caused much pain to my husband and two children. I pray that God removes from me the obsession to drink and destroy our lives. I pray that he heals my family. I pray that I will become the best wife and mother I can be. Please God, hear my prayers.

I’ll say a prayer for you and your family. If you haven’t sought out professional help already, please do so immediately. It may be the best choice you ever make.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting suffering as a pathway to peace,
And taking as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.

At one point my parents were going to get a divorce. I saw no chance of the marriage being saved and I was just interested in getting past the initial turmoil and moving on with the new dynamics of my kids having divorced grandparents.

When a cousin of mine found out about the situation he said he was pray for them to resolve their issues and stay together. I thought he was naive…pray for them to stay together…I felt prayers would be better directed to the healing that need to happen with the family after the divorce was finalized.

Well…like so many times before in my life I was shown to be the fool. After some time of living separately their marriage slowly began to heal and now they are back together again. Given the circumstances I would have never thought this to be possible…but nothing is impossible with God.

Regina, I am very pleased to pray for you as requested, but if you are not attending AA then I urge you to try it, by attending a few meetings. It works wonders, and your confessor will be pleased with you.

Dear Lord, I pray that reginabeana’s marriage and family will be saved, and for regina to be healed of her problems.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women,
and Blessed is the Fruit
of Thy Womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

St Joseph, pfu

I pray to the Lord for the best for you and your family.

The secret is to remember that you ARE in control, and that decisions you make are your’s. Use this to to inspired and to know that you can change things over time. 🙂

Good luck and God bless

If you attend AA meetings, see if your husband will go to Al-Anon meetings - some meeting locations hold both at the same time in different rooms. Your husband needs support because alcoholism is a FAMILY disease. There are Al-Anon meetings all over the world. If he is willing to come with you to an open AA meeting, that can be helpful too. But if he goes to Al-Anon, he will find help.

Reginabeana,

I reluctantly disagree with a previous poster. The first step in AA (and many similar programs) is: I admitted I was powerless over alcohol. 2nd Step: Came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity.

I do agree with the other posters that you should go to an AA meeting. You will need it regardless of what your husband does.

Praying for your healing, as well as, your family’s.
