Thanks to everyone who has responded. The answers are very similar to those of UK Catholics so I think that’s a good thing in terms of consistency.
I won’t go into detail about the path I’m going to take as it’s irrelevant to the wider debate regarding Church teaching. I understand the teaching clearly but as with everything, sometimes there are ways around difficulties. I can see that going through the annulment process is essential for any potential avenue beyond that ( highly improbable as that may be). For my own reasons, and they are, as stated above , irrelevant to the express wish of the Church, I will not partake of the annulment process and accordingly will withdraw from researching further the RC faith. Thanks again for all of the responses.
