I am divorced and remarried. Neither my first or second marriages were in the Catholic church. ( I was raised Catholic, baptized and confirmed, but haven’t practiced since age 18).

Am I eligable to go to communion? Would different Catholics give different answers to this question?

No,

First, you need to have your current marriage recognized by the CC.

Next, you need to go to confession.

Finally, you can receive the sacrament of reconciliation and do your penance.

Receive communion.

First, you should really ask a priest. I don’t know the specifics about sacramental vs. non-sacramental marriages, but I’m pretty sure a Catholic who isn’t married in the Church is not in a sacramental marriage. But again, take it up with a priest.

Different people would give you different answers, but only because different people have different understandings of Church law on this matter, and differing opinions as well.

No. You are currently in an invalid marriage due to your divorce/remarriage. But, you should be able to remedy that through the Church marriage tribunal.

You can approach your priest about the necessary steps to return to the Sacraments. Since you are inquiring abour receiving the Eucharist, I presume you are considering returning to the Church.

Only if they are uneducated about Church teaching and Canon Law. (Which, BTW, a lot of people are). The marriage laws of the church are not extremely complex, but situations are best discussed with a knowledgeable priest because each situation is unique.

Well, you didn’t mention whether or not your spouse was previously married. If not, your situation should be rather easy to resolve. The correct answer to your query is that it cannot be answered in this forum. You need to speak to a priest.

No and no.

If neither of your marriages were done in the church or blessed after the fact, the annulment could be a very simple lack of form annulment. Get the first marriage annuled. Get the second marriage blessed. Go to confession. You can then begin to receive communion again.

One thing you forgot to mention. The status of the spouse’s marital history may also need resolution.
