Do 10's of thousands of Muslims convert to Catholic Church each year?

sadly islam is still the fastest growing religion on earth.

Btw do the math on muslims’ claims of conversion in the West. The whole place should be muslim by now.

Btw none of Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan (btw D’Souza’s uncle was an archbishop there) can live there: his grandchildren were Christian (one later apostastized to Zoroastrianism, his father’s original faith). And to prove God has a sense of humor, the national holiday in Pakistan is Jinnah’s birthday: December 25.

Muslim leaders have publicly said that they loose about 6mil Muslims to Christianity every year. They are mostly from Africa. If I were them, I’d convert too. Look who bring all the aid when disaster strikes? Yup, it is the evil Christian.

I can tell you the countless experiences I have had with muslims admitting this amongst themselves.

The above is a link to a Reuter’s report (video) that apparently claims 6 million muslims convert to Christainity each year. I say apparently because I don’t have speakers at the office and I was only able to read the blurb.

Of course, the 20 million or so who are advocating for the destruction of the West probably aren’t in the conversion line.

Statistics can often be misleading.

A much more reliable method of assessing the growth of Islam in the community would be to individually ask all of one’s relatives and friends.

Chances are that there are now a number of “closet Muslims” among them… if indeed they are not already openly declaring themselves.

You keep posting this in other threads. Maybe you can do a little less cut and pasting? It would make your posts more interesting. If I am going to judge the growth of Islam by asking about it in my community, I would have to include that it is non-existent.

By the way, you say that statistics can be misleading. But asking people you know if they are muslim in order to determine the growth of Islam would be, I think, even more misleading.

Yes. I’m all for humanism. And there is very little of it in Islam. Its an authoritarian political-religion that threatens to plunge humanity back into the medieval ages.

Perhaps you should try a slightly different approach then i.e. ask them whether they personally know of anyone who has recently reverted to Islam.

I am saying that no matter how they answer, how would it show if Islam is growing? I think statistics would be more accurate than me asking my uncle if he knows anyone who has converted to Islam.

Interesting. Among Chritians, slowly in decline as a percentage of world’s population, it it the pentecostals and evangelicals that are growing rleative to catholics and mainline that continue to decrease in percentage of world population. The supposed Catholic growth in Africa can’t counteract the collapse of Catholicsm in Europe and North American and now especially South America.

on reuters website it’s says worldwide estimated. the word WORLDWIDE ESTIMATED is vaque. Estimating something that has small scope is prone to error and yet this article estimating worldwide statistic. I also questioning Reuters credibility. I read the article how Reuters journalist altering photography image during Hezbollah vs Israel conflict.

I just noted that in Australia church are getting emptier each year. My friend has insightful thought about this, he says probably there are more christian than muslim but there are more practicing muslim than christian.

Please provide a source on Africa and especially Indonesia. I read a lot and have nowhere seen that Islam is anything but growing in Africa and Indonesia. Muslims will soon be a majority in Nigeria which is why all the tension over the growing movement to impose Shir’a there.

Indonesia is overwhelmingly Muslim with the religious minorities basically static. Islam is growing quickly in hindu dominated India, Why the reactionnary stance of some Hindus - the country is gradually embracing Islam. Now about 17% of the population. Chriutians are stagnant - at about 3% of the population. The pentecostals are growing but that is offset by the Catholic loss.

I “was” in Islam for 6 years. I am sure their are MANY like me that have come back or maybe come back in “heart” only. I have a awesome DH and he is encouraging me to get things straight with the church. DH is from Pakistan. He insists I do what makes me happy!

Statistics can be made to say things that aren’t necessarily true (the quote that comes to mind is, “There are three types of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics.”) or appear to say something that isn’t what is actually taking place. I understand the point trying to be made, and i have some personal background to show that. My brother’s girlfriend is the child of Muslim immigrants to the US. She said that her grandparents are very religious, her parents would be described as Muslim, but not practicing, and she is basically secular with no religious ties to Islam. So even though she might be counted as Muslim in a survey by her parents or something, she really isn’t. So to try and extrapolate on this data, and say that Islam will overtake the world or something, is rather inaccurate.

I can’t testify to any of the numbers or growth rates. But I strongly doubt the inherent appeal of any religion that feels the need to murder people who leave it. I don’t know many Muslims, but the ones I do know are basically agnostic and don’t follow any of Islam’s tenets, ever. I have a feeling that if the Muslim countries allowed conversion, Islam would collapse in a lot of places. You don’t have to hold a gun to the head of people who are true believers.

I can’t testify to any of the numbers or growth rates. But I strongly doubt the inherent appeal of any religion that feels the need to murder people who leave it. I don’t know many Muslims, but the ones I do know are basically agnostic and don’t follow any of Islam’s tenets, ever. I have a feeling that if the Muslim countries allowed conversion, Islam would collapse in a lot of places. You don’t have to hold a gun to the head of people who are true believers.
