Top 10 reasons I’ll never support the #blacklivesmatter movement

Do all black lives matter?

By Ryan Bomberger, CP Guest Contributor | Sunday, June 07, 2020

Ryan Bomberger is the co-founder of The Radiance Foundation.

Every life unjustly killed deserves justice. In the cause to make things right, I will not join a movement that has nearly everything wrong. More innocent lives have now been killed (#BlueLivesMatter, too) since these predominantly violent protests began over George Floyd’s horrific death. What about the black lives killed in this nationwide chaos? Do they matter?

“Well, you don’t have to agree with everything. Just pick out the good things in the #BlackLivesMatter movement,” I’m told. Really? Let’s apply that same logic to another example. I’ve been repeatedly approached to partner with New Black Panthers in anti-abortion billboard campaigns. We agree on the violent injustice of abortion, and that’s it. Our worldviews are diametrically opposed. But, but, but they believe unborn lives matter ! That doesn’t matter. Their mission is not my mission. I cover all of this in-depth in my new podcast, Life Has Purpose.

Yes, #BlackLivesMatter. But Truth matters. As a Christian, the Church should be leading on these issues instead of sheepishly following a movement hostile to the Gospel.

For the same logical reasoning, I could never vote for Trump.

Please understand, Victoria, this is not a personal attack on you, but it is a general observation about the sad state of our society.

“Black Lives Matter” as a political movement, and “Black Lives Matter” as a moral imperative are two different things, and some might view the confusion of the two, if it is done for political expediency, as disingenuous.

Black lives, and all lives, matter. To deny the fact that Black Lives Matter is to reject the pro-life teachings of the Church, that says all human life has value, and ultimately matters.

Those who righteously espouse outrage against abortion, and make excuses for not embracing the value of the lives of all living beings, whether by abortion, capital punishment, euthanasia, or turning a blind eye or making excuses for treating the marginalized with less favor than Christ would have are just as much a part of the “Culture of Death” as abortionists, mercy killers, or those in favor of state sanctioned execution.

I can accept that black lives matter. In small caps only. If and only if all lives matter. Also in small caps. Any other interpretation does nothing but stoke division in the Body of Christ. Remember the word catholic comes from the ancient Greek word “katholikos” which means “universal”. Which means that the Catholic Church is the universal church, not just the church for this race or that race only. Remember that part of the Creed “I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic church”. The African Catholics, they believe this too, God bless them.

Do American black people have concerns particular to them? Most definitely yes they do. I have often observed that the Democrats have not served them any better than the Republicans have. Witness the inner cities run almost exclusively by Democrats for generations now. The party that trumpets the deaths of 9 unarmed black men at the hands of cops, but is too quiet about the deaths of thousands of blacks at the hands of other blacks. I have said before that it is long since time that blacks went their own way politically and stopped allowing themselves to be used as pawns by either side.

Finally allow me to offer this very well written perspective of a Catholic retired police officer that I posted in another thread:

Billie Eilish Slams ‘All Lives Matter’ and White Privilege: ‘This Is Not About You' World News
Here’s a viewpoint from a retired Catholic cop from Spirit Daily: From that article: All lives matter regardless of color, race, age, wealth, location, religion, etc. Nobody is saved by race, we are saved by grace (cf. Ephesians 2:8). In 2 Peter 3:9 (RSV) it reads: ‘The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,” but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.’ No one is more important than another in the eyes of God, th…

what does turn a blind eye mean, objecting to continuing what clearly isn’t working and destroying the family unit in the process?

does it mean we must accept the hedonistic lifestyle, the death of the unborn and aged, the anti-science identity politics, the lawlessness promoted by the party that claims they are doing right?

seems like we are doomed no matter what side of the fence we are on

seems like we are doomed no matter what side of the fence we are on
Nobody on the side of righteousness is doomed; see the Gospel of Matthew (the Beatitudes, and the Judgment of Nations); those teachings will determine what side of the fence one is on.
