**Here’s my evidence for the papacy courtesy of Sacred Scripture: **
"And I tell you that you are Peter (rock) and on this rock (Peter) I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it.
Peter is the rock, the rock is Peter. And whoever should be part of this church (Christ’s church) built on rock the gates of Hell will not prevail. Now the keys
Again, I point out that 44 of the ECF, that were given to Peter were given to him only (and we know this because just a few chapters after this he gives the autority to loose and bind to the other apostles but without ever giving them the keys which connote a final authority in matters of loosing and binding),
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
**I have already pointed out on this thread and in these conversations and at this time, that the Roman Catholic Church at the Council of Trent issued a statement obligatory on all Roman clerics and ALL WHO promise and swear that they will continue in obedience to the Church of Rome regarding Holy Scripture ,that,“never will I understand it or interpret it , except according to the unanimous consent of the Holy Fathers.”
It is a fact that Launoy , a Roman Scholar, and indeed many others have found of the early fathers some 44 are found to interpret, ‘this rock,’ not as Peter, but the faith Peter confessed! While 16 others believed ,‘the rock,’ was Christ Himself! Another eight chose all the Apostles.
Only 17 fathers chose Peter to be the recipient of the term.
SS.Hilary, Gregory Nyssen and S.John Chrysostom. As well as, Cyril of Alexandria and S.Augustine were amongst those fathers who didn’t see Peter as the Rock.
Neither did Origen who interpreted the Rock to be,‘all men who have the same faith.’
For the Vatican Council Council,Archbishop Kenrick wrote on this subject,'From this it follows either that no argument at all, or a very feeble one, can be drawn in proof of the primacy of peter from the words,'on this rock will I build My Church."…If we follow the number of the fathers on this question then certainly it is to be held that we should understand by the rock the faith professed by Peter and not Peter himself.
Ambrose of Milan was sure that,“Faith is then the foundation of the Church for not the human person of S.Peter but of Faith is it said that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” [De Incarn.v.34PL16 827].
In the Roman Missal, the Collect for Vigil of SS. Peter and Paul,
“GRANT, WE BESEECH THEE, ALMIGHTY GOD, THAT THOU WOULDST NOT SUFFER US WHOM THOU HAST ESTABLISHED ON THE ROCK OF THE APOSTLES CONFESSION TO BE SHAKEN BY ANY DISTURBANCE.”
.
The question has to be asked is, why do you ignore the teaching of your Church of Rome?
Why do you put your own interpretations in place of the Holy people of God and indeed your own scholars?
