Oh, you may trust me, as to whether I’ve had my feelings hurt. I would know. Never happened. Necessary conditions don’t exist, in this sort of format.
Hi GKC,
So you need not wonder about whether I would be hurt by you calling me non-Catholic, though I wonder why you linked that term to discussion issues of Mary worship, or statues, etc. My parish’s Mary Shrine is centered on a statue of OL of Walsingham, and we sing the Angelus at every Mass. Our assistant priest has a special devotion to the BVM.
**
Yes, you mentioned the devotion to the BVM before. I am aware of that by some Anglican’s the High Church per say. That remark was only used as a strawman example It wasn’t addressed to you specifically, just as an easy example ofsomething MANY non-catholics mistakenly believe about Catholic beliefs!
Since Devotion to Mary is not necessary for salvation, many non-Catholic don’t realize that many Catholics do not have any devotion to Mary at all. I find many who don’t even own a Rosary much less know how to pray it!
I do know that you realize that as a RC I don’t believe in the “three” Branch Theory. A non-catholic is a “Protestant”. The term Anglo-Catholic only serves to obfuscate the truth. The apostolic letter Apostolic;ae curae in 1896 by Pope Leo XIII declared Anglican orders “absolutely null and utterly void,” **
And, on boards such as these, I’ve often explained to prot types the difference between *dulia, hyperdulia * and
latria, as well as the analogy of pictures of loved ones, as you say.
**
Yes. the greek words translate only worship and they are so sure their use of the word proves that we worship Mary! **
You are perhaps, not well informed as to the particular nature of Anglo-Catholics, or how we might look at Our Lady, or perhaps other matters.
**I doubt that even Anglo-Catholics are that well informed just like Catholics aren’t about the Catholic church. I learnt a long time ago that anyone who makes an absolute statement is absolutely wrong all the time and often wonder that If there’s an exception to every rule is there an exception to that rule? :bounce: **
Which conclusion (accurate or erroneous) will, I know, not hurt your feelings.
**
Not at all. But Actually I do know more about your faith now than I did months ago. I always knew your church were called the “Great Pretenders” Years ago when I went to a Anglican Mass, I saw why. I then studied about your faith and why it was also conmsidered a false religion. “Almost” real is still not real. I pray that our leaders continue to attempt to rejoin at least part of the Anglican church back into the flock.

I don’t consider your church a Counterfeit one: It wasn’t made to deceive like the new ones, It just lost its rights to be considered as a part of the real Church You can’t follow laws made by a King without God’s approval and expect to stay part of His real church. **
I agree that my previous point was what you say; that RCs should affirm what the RCC teaches. It is, in so many points what an Anglo-Catholic affirms. You don’t know me well, though some here do. I am a book collector, and have been, for over 50 years. This avocation (though it has also been a vocation) has resulted in me knowing things. Lots of things. For instance, you posted a C&P from Ott’s FUNDAMENTALS OF CATHOLIC DOGMA, recently, on evolution. Though you didn’t give the precise source, it was Book 2, Section 2, Chap. 1, para 12, sub para 2.
**
OK i am impressed!

I also pride myself in knowing many things. Not much of which is important!

But I will admit that I couldn’t have told you where I got the information on evolution. I have vast files on two computers with information in files by subject.:Evoulation, Baptism, BVM, etc. Being from various sources and used for Forum purposes many aren’t even from the original sources that they actually came from. I looked, I do not have Ludwig Ott as a source. I may have gotten that from a post on a SDA site, If I am not mistaken. **
Don’t take history too lightly. Being deep in it is said to have
beneficial effects, as you may have heard.
**
I don’t! “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” ATTRIBUTION: George Santayana (1863?1952), U.S. philosopher, poet. Life of Reason, ‘Reason in Common Sense,’ ch. 12 (1905-6).

I also love books! I have Hundreds. About 20% are Religious.
I purchased “Mark Twain Selected Works” Last night. a Hard cover Gramercy Books Publication, to replace a book lost in a flood! He is one of my personal heros!
I love Shakespeare : “I’ll note you in my book of memory”
I love Morher Teresa : “The thing that makes me the saddest is watching people receive communion in the hand.” (As reported by Fr. George Rutler in 1989 when he asked her, “What do you think is the worst problem in the world today?” ) The day I read that was the last day I took communion in the hand!**
I love St Agustine: “Charity is no substitute for justice withheld”
I love Abraham Lincoln: “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
I love Jokes: I know the Oldest recorded Joke: It dates all the way back to 1900 B.C. The joke, told by the Sumerians, one of the earliest known civilizations of the world who lived in what is now southern Iraq, was inscribed on stone tablets .According to researchers from Britain’s University of Wolverhampton: It went like this:
“Something which has never occurred since time immemorial; a young woman did not fart in her husband’s lap.”
OK, maybe you had to be there.
God Bless
