Do animals go to Heaven?

Hi, Sister Angel,

I just joined the thread … and the first thing that surprised me was the results of the voting … it is a 3-way tie! Amazing. Now, I voted that animals do not go to heaven basing my vote on what I recall St. Thomas addressing.

But, this lack of an immortal soul should in no way give anyone the idea that how we treat any animal. God gave us the command to subdue the earth (Gen 1:28) and I see this is raising animals specifically for food (veggies, too, for that matter - but, that is another story… ) and raising them for scientific research (e.g., maintaining animals with specific strains of genetic strains so that drugs can be tests specifically for maintaining human health) and, of course, raising them for companionship. Such ‘subduing’ however, does not involve the torturing of animals - inflicting pain for human amusement (like raising dogs to fight one another). No matter what, we humans are responsible for our actions and will be judged by God on our entire lives.

Yes, of course, with God all things are possible. To the best of my knowledge, animals going to heaven (or not) has not been a dogmatic pronouncement by the Catholic Church. Go ahead if you think they go to heaven - that is really fine with me… My thinking, however, is that with all the real problems our Church is experiencing (at least in the USA) with our pro-death governmental /anti-God policies, I was thinking that maybe there were more pressing issues to address.

Well you may be right Sir,but on this thread it was permissible to speak and give hope of your dreams.Hope is what we all have at the abortion centers while praying for the Lord to help who is inside to make the right decision and come back out and keep and nurture their child and love it and raise it to be a loving person and fit into society as the Christian who tries to be what the Lord want us to be and can look back one day and thank that mom for her love and caring for them so much she kept him or her and did the right thing.A new thread perhaps Mr tqualey? Yes. I think that you post totally transcends the thread … so, a new thread would probably be appropriate. Seriously, your experiences in front of abortion clinics I think would be a wonderful thread to open.

Now, concernings animals going to heaven… if you have hope in this - please, continue on with your hope.

Why did you buy the NKJV it’s missing books in the Old Testament and the notes can go against Catholic doctrine which can screw you up if you do not have the time to look up what is correct from a good catholic source or not even realize when what you are reading is against the catholic faith? Don’t we have enough chioces? :bighanky:

Good call! I totally missed that one (OK, I thought I was writing to a Catholic nun… )

But, hey - there is no reason for anyone to be using the NKJV when you can have not only all the books - but reference notes that are both accurate and in conformity with Catholic teachings - all here at this link: usccb.org/bible/books-of-the-bible/ …
