I’ve heard this is true. Does anyone know for sure or have any research on this?

Thanks-

I know that if one is taking oral contraceptives, antibiotics can disrupt the effectiveness of them. That’s why our good friend has a 5 yo niece. Also, I think some antibiotics are unsafe for pregnancy but I don’t know which ones. I don’t know if antibiotics would affect, say, ovulation if one wasn’t using the Pill. 🤷

Yes, its true they mess up hormonal contraceptives.

Yes it’s true they affect fertility as far as cervical mucous is concerned.

**
**Medications **
There are certain medications that can change cervical mucus, these include:
  • Any antihistamine: these can dry up mucous
  • Bisolven: rather than drying up mucus, it liquefies it
  • Some antidepressants
  • Herbal medicines, golden seal and horseradish; these are commonly used as cold and flu remedies
  • High doses of the acidic form of vitamin C ascorbic acid
  • **Prescription antibiotics **
**These drugs will also reduce fertility because they interfere with healthy cervical mucus. **
