Do any CAF members particularly like "hair" metal?

Yes, I mean the genre popularized by such bands as Poison, Cinderella, Winger, etc.

Eh. I’m not that into “metal” per se. I loved Linkin Park when I was younger, and I still listen to them if they’re on the radio. But otherwise, I have a wide range of taste. But I mostly stay around classical and alt rock.

Those bands were part of my youth, as I was in my early-mid 20s when they were popular and I did enjoy some of the bands and songs. I’ve seen a few of the bands live and enjoyed them.

I remember I preferred it to grunge because in my opinion the hair metal people were better looking/ better dressed and the songs weren’t a lot of whining about teen angst and family dysfunction.

It’s not something I sit around dwelling on, since it was 30 years ago already now.

Grew up in the late 80s, so hair metal defines my childhood. Even sit and watch Rock of Ages (the ONLY Tom Cruise movie I actually like him in) whenever it’s on. And yes, I sing along.

My faves (I don’t like all of their lyrics mind you, but love the music, if that makes sense)
Journey
Bon Jovi
Whitesnake
Def Leppard
Kiss
Dio
Iron Maiden
Queen

Same here. I took a lot of flak for it in college because that was when hair metal had passed it’s twilight and grunge was in full swing. But I always insisted that with hair bands you got better guitarists and better vocalists.

I don’t listen to those bands a whole lot anymore, but that’s what I grew up with, so I’ll always have a soft spot for it.

I’m a guitar player, but was always more into regular metal and punk.

But I did like the instrumental “shredders” of the hair metal age. One guy in particular is remarkable… and tragic. Jason Becker who was a virtuoso, who soon got Lou Gehrig’s disease, and is now wheelchair bound and has to type with a computerized system. But he left some beautiful music.

I love poison :metal:t2:
I still remember as a youngster when my older sister showed my brother and me the cover of
“Look What the Cat Dragged In” and asked us if we thought they were boys or girls. “Girls, obviously”. Nope! That was my introduction to hair metal. 😜
