My family wacky? yes, present company included:D We all have our “craziness” But we would not be “us” without it:D

“Strange relatives”? Hmmm…Yeah, they are part what prompted me to return to the faith (“offer it up”, “pray for them”, etc.). But the best piece of advice came from my sister…when the relatives would be at my throat or spouting off some of their nonsense, she advised me to sing to myself, “You’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’…Whoa, that lovin’ feelin…’” Always brought a smile to my face and made the situation less stressful (to me anyway)…and made them wonder why I was smiling in the midst of a heated discussion 😃

puzzleannie:
all of my relatives are strange, we are a family, as my uncle once said, that places a high premium on eccentricity.

Well, that could be a race puzzleannie…especially if I come from a FRENCH family!😃

Actually, I think my family considers me to be the strange one. They refer to me as their “Catholic Taliban” - a phrase my mother invented. I tend to be the Catholic conscience of the family.

However, since her conversion, my wife has repeatedly upstaged me in this department. My prayers for conversion went like this: “Father, if you would only allow my wife to convert she’ll be your most staunch defender and devout follower.” Now I think my prayer was almost a prediction!

Fortunately, my family knows that, when it comes to the Faith, I know what I’m talking about. After checking with my cousin, a Salesian priest, about a couple of things I said, they realized that they shouldn’t argue with me about matters of religion. What they don’t realize is that I painstakingly research any Faith-related issues on the Catholic Answers website before I address them to my family!
