Do any of you like the Star Wars prequels?

I used to be of the opinion they were bad movies, directorially deficient, undynamic (especially TPM).

Anyhow i revised my opinion.

I think the idea or concept employed is brilliant.

Lucas contrived to produce in Darth Vader and Anakin a fusion of types. Anakin as Adam whose ancestral Fatherhood we image as an orge-father in Darth Vader…i could wax pretentious even more…but most of its in the video.

I might be crazy, seeing stuff that ain’t there in the movies, in any case i think i see two main ideas within the prequels. The two ideas are that
  1. the prequels are an allegory for the ensoulment of the first man. The first man who is evolutionary Adam is bereaved of his mother whom he cannot be reunited with in Heaven because he is qualitatively spiritually different to his mother Shmi
  2. Lucas contrives to make God the Father the antitype of Adam and then combines type and antitype as one singular person. I’d call it the Adam-God idea if not for the fact that’s Mormon theology. I say “contrives” because it’s basically a literary conflation of two people as one.
I must be mad, no-one else sees it this way!

I like the prequels for the most part. Attack of the Clones is the worst of them I believe (except for the battle at the end). One thing I’ve noticed is that people who view the prequels with the idea that the primary story is the fall of Anakin and the rise of Darth Vader generally don’t like the prequels. However, people who view the prequels with the idea that the primary story is the rise of Palpatine and the Empire, like it a lot more. It’s just a much more interesting story.

I think the first three movies did well because Lucas borrowed from pirate, cowboy, war, sci-fi, and adventure movies. He didn’t do as well for the prequels because he tried to make them look like political thrillers.

This might also explain why the most notable recent work from the franchise is The Mandalorian, which borrows from several western and samurai shows.

I grew up with the prequels, so I love them as much as the OT, but I recognize that when comparing the two the prequels are more mediocre films.

From the sequel trilogy, weirdly enough, I liked TROS, hated TLJ, and thought TFA was okay.

From the Disney Spin-Offs, I loved Rogue One and I thought Solo was okay.

Your pretty spot on, however I would say that the prequels need to be viewed as both and I would add also as a story of the downfall of the (failing) Jedi Order, when the story is viewed as a whole (all three viewpoints) it becomes much more interesting, IMHO the overarching story is Great

…the dialogue not so much…

…But when only viewing one storyline and not taking in the whole, the trilogy isn’t as nearly as enjoyable as it’s meant to be…

…also I would say that the prequel trilogy is meant to be watched as one continuous story, IMHO none of the prequels really stand that great alone, however when viewed as a part of the whole they are much better.

I personally thought Rogue One and Solo were far better than the entire sequel trilogy and The Mandalorian quite possibly is the best bit of Star Wars to come out of Disney (not including the rides at Hollywood Studios because wow were they great).

I am having trouble understanding the video for multiple reasons. Firstly, your poor enunciation and lack of resonance in your voice. The slight British accent is not a hindrance for me, except when combined with everything else. Then there is the combination of disjointed musings and large blobs of text I can’t really be bothered to read. Are these original ideas or drawn from other sources? You aren’t really unpacking your ideas so much as surfing from wave to wave.

Star Wars, in general, is distasteful to me. I really bought into it as a child, I had every action figure, every starship and vehicle, I watched the original series so many times. And then I grew up and grew out of it. I became Catholic again and I saw in Star Wars many things that are detrimental to our faith. I see Star Wars as a huge cultural force that could have evangelized the Christian faith, but instead abvangelizes a mishmash of Buddhism/Shintoism/Hinduism that George Lucas seems to adhere to. It uses some Christian trappings to appeal to Western audiences, but scratch the surface and discover, they are merely trappings.

Dear Anesti33,

I am dearly sorry about your loss, the action figures and the like, when I was little I wasn’t offered much more than a multivolume children’s encyclopedia. That too in its religious content was a mishmash of Buddhism/Shintoism/Hinduism and the like. I do wish the editors had the foresight to cater to what I was to become. Someone very serious about his Christian faith.

As for my poor diction, if i were to surf to the next wave of thought that arises in my mind, i would very much like to have either my vocal cords altered, or to have the video re-narrated in the voice of the now deceased actor Robert Vaughan. Of the two ideas, which are original ideas drawn from my own source which is my own mind. Only the former appeals to me on the condition you could contribute to a GoFundMe account.

However, I hope that you, like me, and that you, like me, truly look beyond mere appearances(voice(diction), appearance(malformed facial features)) and to the intellectual content of my videos, which if you find to be arrant nonsense would be kind enough to call me “raca/fool” and be done with.

Kind regards Anesti33
