Do any of you seminarians or to-be seminarians do this?

Finding yourself frequently thinking about doing something a priest would do, like saying Mass, preaching, confessions, anointings, etc. is often a sign that God is calling you to that vocation. I spent several years “daydreaming” about such things before I finally got the message and acted on it.
I think that denial about it is another sign, too. My vocations director said, “Your not called to marriage, accept it!” I guess when you have another priest saying that he knows that you are called to priesthood, it’s is pretty case-closed.

I won’t be allowed to discern for another 2 years. After that, if I haven’t gone into schism ;), there’s an excellent Italian priest who is the vocations director. Hopefully he’ll still be in charge on my second anniversary, because the moment Easter, 2013 is over I’m running to the archdiocesan office. If they don’t let me in, I’ll get a battering ram; if they reinforce the doors, I’ll find a pole vault; if they put attack dogs in the courtyard, I’m hiring a mercenary platoon and storming the place! 😃

I think that they’d be too scared not to accept! 😃

This thread is lovely; Good Luck to all you seminarians and would-be seminarians, and thank you too for discerning this call.

A priest once said to me that some Catholic boys like to imagine they are priests every once in a while. I asked the question because the last time we were passing our Cathedral he wanted to go in to light a candle, and when we were in there asked if he could pretend to say Mass - I wanted to know if this was ok as he was being very reverent and not disturbing anyone, but it was still strange watching him. The priest said it was fine, and how he himself had started, buy ‘saying Mass’ for different audiences.

If Neo (from the Matrix) wears a cassock, does that mean he’s a Roman Catholic priest??? 😮

You should apply for the Old College undergraduate seminary at Notre Dame then 😃

We could be Old Collegians together! (Catchy title 👍)
Oh, if only I didn’t live in Texas haha!
I haven’t decided between a religious priest or a diocesan priest yet. I’m leaning towards diocesan because I have a hard time asking for money 😛 But If I do become a religious priest, maybe my travels will take me there

Anything is definitely possible! Initially, I was interested in the secular priesthood but after visiting the SVD seminary in Epworth, Iowa and the CSC seminary in Notre Dame, IN, I fell more called to the religious priesthood.

And I’m from California, so the frigid Indiana winters will both be a shock to us if you decide on exploring Old College haha

This is the best thread on this Forum! I’m so happy and full joy hearing from seminarians and seminarian to be. You guys rocks!
I just wanted to share a picture of my son, currently in Rome for the 2011 Rome Experience Program. He’s going to be in Theology II next semester. God willing Ordination Class of 2015.

Thank you all for answering the call.

If God so wills, I will be ordination class of 2018 or 2019.

I wish there were more minor seminaries in existence so that young men of high school age could begin fostering a vocation to the priesthood.

I’ve been thinking for a couple of days now that if I ever become a priest, I’d do my best to at least open one minor seminary and see that it is a successful one 👍

They use to do that, I know a couple of people who went to a high school seminary I don’t think either became priest though.
