Do any of you seminarians or to-be seminarians do this?

Anthony V, those miracles were pretty cool.** I have to say I’m kinda jealous.**
God probably only let those things happen because I’m stubborn. If God has drawn you to vocation without having to use any miracles, I’d say you’re in good shape (or at least better shape than I am)!
:rotfl:

That makes sense. I ran from my calling for a while. I would convince myself that I had to get married, I would tell God not to bother me with these feelings of extreme interest in the priesthood, and other such things.

In the past 2 months, I’ve finally said yes, and those feelings have slacked off a bit. One thing that I have noticed is that I have been much more open with telling people that I feel called to be a priest and that I plan to go to seminary.

This is the same thing with me.

That doubt is still there, though. I guess I can attribute this as a trick of the Devil?

Yep, that’s a safe assumption. The absolute last thing that Satan wants is for us to all become priests, so he’ll be trying extra hard to dissuade us from the priesthood.

Satan knows that I am notorious for doubting everything, so he’s using this as an advantage…what a jerk. 😉

Like there’s that one part of me (God) saying, “Yes! Be my priest! It’s so obvious!” Then there’s that other part of me (Satan) trying to tear me to shreds with doubt, worry, anxiety, etc.

Like, I doubt things sometimes, but those doubts always go away after a short period of time. This is just so persistent that it bothers me.

It’s scary.

Have any of you been to any events up at the seminary? Mine is having a barbecue on August 3. Roasting a pig and playing volleyball, frisbee, etc.

Should be interesting.

Will the pig have an apple in his mouth? I always thought that that was such a silly custom.

Why ever would you want to do that? Among other things, it could give nasty little boys bad ideas.
😦

Yes, it could…

This is what I found:
Why do they put an apple in a pig’s mouth when roasting?
To keep the pig’s mouth open. When roasting, the heat forces the toxic intestinal gases out and the mouth needs to be open to help it vent. If the mouth is closed, the gases stay inside and seep into the pig. The apple works well because it is round and it doesn’t burn up during the roasting process.

When you start to think about it, it does kinda get scary when you realize that you will go toe to toe with the devil if you are ordained. I haven’t been doubting as much, but I don’t hear that huge call anymore that some would expect.

And yes, I have a Facebook. 😃

I thought that you guys might like reading these:
Criticism of Priests Condemned by Our Lord as Revealed to His Servant, Mutter Vogel

“One should NEVER attack a priest, even when he’s in error, rather one should pray and do penance that I’ll grant him My grace again. He alone fully represents Me, even when he doesn’t live after My example!”
“When a Priest falls we should extend him a helping hand through prayer and not through attacks! I Myself will be his judge, no one but I!”
“Whoever voices judgment over a priest has voiced it over me; Child, never let a priest be attacked, take up his defense.”
"Child, Never judge your confessor, rather pray much for him and offer every THURSDAY, through the hands of My blessed Mother, Holy Communion [for him].
“Never again accept an out-of-the-way word about a Priest, and speak no unkind word (about them) EVEN IF IT WERE TRUE! Every Priest is My Vicar and My heart will be sickened and insulted because of it! If you hear a judgment [against a Priest] pray a HAIL MARY.”
Code:
"If you see a Priest who celebrates the Holy Mass unworthily then say nothing about him, rather tell it to Me alone! I stand beside Him on the alter!"
“Oh pray much for my priests, that they’ll love purity above all, that they’ll celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with pure hands and heart. Certainly the Holy Sacrifice is one and the same even when it’s celebrated by an unworthy priest, but the graces called down upon the people is not the same!”

I will have to get use to heat where I will be a priest. Today the high is 97 and the heat index is 110 😦
Back to it being hot and wearing the clerics…

Ya, today it was mid-90’s with a heat index close to 100. Some priests were at the baseball field today wearing clerics for Catholic Youth Day!

Tomorrow it’s gonna be even worse - 97 degrees with a heat index close to 120.:eek:

Yeah, on a hot day, I seem to sweat the most in church, even when the fans are on and a few stained glass windows are open. I can only imagine how Father feels in his alb and chasuble!

Luckily we have air at my church, but one Sunday it was broken, and my pastor sweats bullets. He ended up getting a small fan for the sanctuary! 😃

I can see myself giving some homilies and totally breaking out into a sweat. 😃

Haha. “It’s too hot to get this heated.”

Oh dear! I do not exactly look forward to that possibility. But hey, if it is for the faithful…
