Do any of you seminarians or to-be seminarians do this?

I’m a girl, so I obviously can’t comment, but I do have to say that it’s so amazing to read this thread and see so many guys so excited about their vocations!!! It gives me sooooo much hope!!

I, on the other hand, have to finish a whole another year of high school before I can start studying

I’m in the minor seminary (Which is high school). Minor seminaries are really good for training because it’s always good to start young.🙂

I dream about buying myself a biretta and a cool priest cape jsut like what my parish priest has. We would die if we just knew how great the priesthood is:stretcher:

We’re so unworthy of it, so we really need to pray that God makes us good ones.

anyone know if they still have mini seminaries in America?

I honestly can see myself preaching some good homilies! I would actually love to do that.

That’s exciting! It sounds like we’re going to have a couple more excellent diocesan priests and another excellent Jesuit priest 😃
 
Yah! I asked my parish priest that question and he said yes and we should. They are pious thoughts.🙂 I tried on his biretta. They’re so cool, and it drives Father nuts when we talk about birettas and other Pre-Vatican II things.
Sam and I : “The Pre-Vatican II mass (Meaning the Tridentine mass) is so cool!”
Father Au: “It’s not called the Pre-Vatican II mas!!! The Tridentine mass and the mass we have right now are the one sacrifice!”

Our parish priest has a cool priest cape and biretta. He’s taught us not to be liberal. It was because of him that we entered the minor seminary.

It’s good to see I’m not the only one who “played Mass” as a kid or spends a slightly disproportionate amount of time daydreaming about doing great things for God rather than anything else. A lot of the time I would like to do extreme fasting but back out because my job is kind of strenuous, so I eat. I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to being hungry.😃 Have any of you had a lot of dreams where you were performing an exorcism? I have for years, and for a while I considered the possibility that God may want to use me as an exorcist. But, then again, I could be looking WAY too much into that.

I was actually trying to find out how big the property was that I’m going to. Its 1200 acres small lol. so yeah pretty big campus, but the buildings are on like a 50 acre area, but they a large portion of land.

I have no idea what classes I’ll be taking, and I will probably be shopping for my supplies very soon :), I’m so so excited.
 
Same with me! Funnily enough, when I read the biographies of some of the popes, they used to do the same thing! Like Pius X and Pius XII !

Good for you! And a genuine love of learning always helpful to have, especially in an advanced educational program, whether it be a major seminary, a medical college, a graduate program, or a law school.
 
My favorite thing about seminary is the fact that we will get to have many many years in growing closer to God with others. Getting up every morning to go to mass, prayer, adoration, and theology/philosophy makes my heart flutter a bit. And the best part about that, is when we get out of seminary, we’ll be able to share that joy with others.

Haha. I know that feeling. I tell others how good excited I am about that, and they give me like that “Would it be that fun?” look. Haha.
