Do any of you seminarians or to-be seminarians do this?

Have any of you had a good number of dreams where you were performing an exorcism?

Wow. Woke up today from dreaming of seminary. As it is common in my dreams, nothing was really as it would be in real life, but it still motivated me, a lot. 😃

i suspect when things get closer to the date I go to school, I fully expect to have dreams like this.

I really hope your dreams get more realistic than mine. 😃

And to answer a Anthony V’s question, I’m thinking I wanna be a Diocesan 🙂

What do you to-be-seminarians listen to in terms of music? Mine’s church music. It gets really awkward when someone asks me what I listen to. :o

its a mix of music I just got XM so ill listen to some of that. Ill listen to channel 7 every once and a while 70s music, not because of the period but mainly because of the stuff they play on there the most. 80s is nice. But I listen to a lot of classical music especially film score music, I enjoy that a lot. I’m a big Jazz guy as well, I listen to lots of frank Sinatra, along with many other jazz guys.

when it comes to Catholic or Christian music, I’ll listen to some strictly Christian music, there is a channel on xm called the message, it is a little protestant but I’ll listen to it when nothing else is on not bad, but not great. I do like matt maher his music is great. I don’t have much good Hymnal music to listen to unfortunately.

don’t be intimidated by my long post I come come from a heavy music background in my family.

I listen to a lot of 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. I actually only listen to Christian music when rehearsing with the choir and when playing/singing at mass. Don’t really listen to it in my daily life. :o

I listen to awesomeness like this on a daily basis. (And I get to see them for the 5th time this Saturday!!!)

I’m a huge Christian rock fan. My favorite band ever is Skillet. Other favorites are RED and Thousand Foot Krutch. As for secular rock, Breaking Benjamin, Rise Against and Three Days Grace are my favorites there.

Guys, it is even better than you imagine it to be, I think.

After I went through Deacon’s instruction, I got to do more or less what a Deacon does, saying what we call “Ante Communion”, which is the mass up to the sermon, or, if you have a license to preach, the mass up to the Eucharist.

After the priest blesses that elements you help serve it.

To me, it’s a priviledge to serve at the altar and lead the congregation in the words you know and love so well. I have even led formal prayer and chanted versicles with my own priest and mentor in the room, and the Bishop. After a while you know what David meant when he wrote:
" Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long."

Enjoy your dreams but the reality is so much better.

I often find myself daydreaming what It would be like as a father. For instance, sometimes I pretend saying the institution of the Eucharist in the shower (where no one can hear me 👍). Other times, I pretend I have just acted in Persona Christi by consecrating it, and I am kneeling devoutly before the host as to encourage the congregation to more devoutly admire the Lord before they come and receive him. And I also daydream about doing really awesome stuff like almost being late to mass because I stopped by a severe wreck scene on the highway and gave a critically wounded person an emergency baptism (since I conveniently had a bottle of water in my car) and saved their soul.

I guess I really want to be one of those “Men in Black”

What you are doing is sacreligious. Do you realize this? This is not normal pretending to act as the Persona CHristi by consecrating it. This is not normal and you are commiting
a SACRELIGIOUS.
My advice to you is to quite this now. Ii never heard of anything like this. I believe this should be told in confession.

JESUS I TRUST IN YOU

I’m sorry, but there is nothing wrong with “acting” like this unless you intend to offend or work on your own authority to “consecrate” the Eucharist, which isn’t possible unless you’re a priest or anyone above that. Honestly, I have talked to a lot of priests who did act like this when they were young.

My advice would be to just calm down about it.

I’m not a seminarian. I think mentally I’m conditioned to repeat things I hear again and again. Once while the priest was saying his consecration, which in my parish is usually drowned out by music, I repeated it aloud totally by mistake. Just as I did the recorded music they use stopped and I was probably heard by people near me. Talk about embarrassment. I felt like an out of control, (angel) possessed lunatic–if only for a moment. Glad to hear that seminarians even have dreams of this kind of thing. You did a lot to help me by starting this thread, accident or not.

🙂

Not a Seminaraian Yet, hopefully fall 2012 as a Sophomore. But I do daydream alot about celebrating mass, and being the pastor. As a young child (8 years old) I use to act like a priest. I had a small picnic table as an altar, and I had grape koolaid and ritz crackers for communion. And I don’t really think it is bad to do this. In most seminaries they have a practice chapel and they have seminarians fully dress up and practice mass.

I’ve thought about being a priest, but I’ve never day dreamed about celebrating mass…I have, however, day dreamed about performing confession, being an exorcist, and just going out in my community and helping people that need help. Mind you if I did become a priest I would want to be a diocese priest.

Well, my local seminary is having a picnic this Wednesday, which consists of a pig roast. I’m really looking forward to it!

I might embarrass myself at volleyball, though. :o

Have any of you been to a “Come and See Weekend” at the seminary? I’m going to one in three weeks. I’m really excited about it! It should be an experience.
