tomshaikh,

Peace be with you,

Jesus did not speak Arabic. He spoke Aramaic as the common day to day language. Here is Luke 24:36 in the Syriac-Aramaic script:

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܝܫܘܥ ܩܡ ܒܝܢܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܠܡܐ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܀

The part in red is: Peace to you (or Peace be with you). In the classical Eastern Aramaic dialect (Chaldean-Assyrian Aramaic), we pronounce it as: Shlama 'amkhon. This is how we greet each other in the holy liturgy, our worship service, when the priest says to us: Shlama 'amkhon (Peace be with you), and we the people respond: 'Amakh w’am ruhakh (With you, and with your spirit).

In Iraq, the Chaldean and Assyrian Christians continue to speak Aramaic on a daily basis with each other at home and in the community, by using a modern dialect of Eastern Aramaic. We continue to greet each other with the peace greeting. When we interact with the Muslims, we use the Arabic greeting so that they may understand us, but when we speak with one another as followers of Jesus, we use the Aramaic greeting.

God bless,

Rony
thank you for your post and your information. i did not know that in Iraq they still speak of form of aramaic. very interesting. we pray for the Catholics and Christians who are in Iraq.
also, has anyone pointed out that islam was not founded until the 7th century? so the disciples of Jesus were definitely not muslim. maybe the OP should study his history timeline a little better.

Wow. This is so seriously weak, I can barely believe that this person is serious…Ronyodish’s excellent post completely destroyed any sort of argument that could be made from the Arabic language regarding Jesus. I guess the really obvious stuff is hard to see when you’re brainwashed from who-knows-where to believe that Jesus was an Arabic-speaking Muslim. While every Muslim I’ve ever known has insisted that Jesus Christ is a Muslim (blasphemy of the highest order, mind you), none of them have suggested that he spoke Arabic! Thank GOD (al-Ab, w al-Ibn, w al-Ruh Qudus, Allahu al-WAHID, Amin!) that my Muslim friends never argue such nonsense…it would be hard to keep a straight face. 😛

I hope the poster has learned his lesson of not posting such a low intellect topic again.

this reminds me of a Muslim member a while ago ,posted about Barnabas …really embarrassing…but I am glad he got banned…

I agree Hadi, but I think our “assalaam” poster will return… 😃

And yes, I remember the “Barnabas” dude - He didn’t stick around for long.

According to this website, welcome-back.org , “One never converts to Islam, but only returns to his or her original nature.”
Yes, I’ve heard from them that everyone is born a muslim and when they leave say Christianity and head towards islam, they call them “reverts” - as if they are reverting back to it. 🤷

they have no real proofs to their pedophile that’s hi’s a prophet so they just falsify on everything
so Jesus said shalom aleikhem in aramic or in hebrew however that’s mean that’s he and the prophets were muslims 😃
they just don’t want to confirm that’s muhamad had steal this salutation from the hebrews since a lots of other thinks from hebrews and other people :o

You are 100% right its means “Peace Be With You”. Thank you and please kindly post luke 24:36 know to see what jesus used to say to their follower while starting conversation. What is Hi, Hello, Wuz Up, What up, Was Happening. This is wrong way to greet people right way is to say Assalaam O Alaikyum which jesus used to say. Thank You.
No disrespect intended, but my family, who is Arabic and Christian, uses this same greeting; it is a traditional Arabic greeting.

Assalaam O Alaikyum Sister,

I am sorry to say to you that what kind of muslim you are. You are stopping me to tell these christian the truth of ISLAM. Let me tell you who are MUSLIMS if you are forgetting. Muslim means to submit. Submit to who ALLAH/GOD. And I believe all prophet submit to Allah/God. Do you know on isra and miraj Prophet Muhammad SAW leads prayer to all prophets which are 124000. And our prophet was imam on Masjid-ul-Aqsa leading prayers to all prophets. please consult www.google.com search word ISRA and MIRAJ. Thank you

And to answer to all christian who ask question from me. I am sunni and shia from my parents. But this is only world thingy sunni and shia. All sunni and shia are Muslims. So i am muslim. I will not dwell myself in sunni and shia. I am just MUSLIM. Where as Assalaam O Alaikyum in hebrew means also peace be with you. in aramic its also peace be with you and in arabic its also peace be with you. it means I guess these languages are similar to each other and speaks in same continent. I am just not saying if Moses and Jesus are muslims. Muslims are those who submits and Moses and jesus submit to ONE ALLAH/GOD. By that common sense they are MUSLIMS. Rest Allah knows better and we will find out on judgement day so why fight with each other. My mission is to convey message to all about ISLAM. If you wanna follow it or not its up to you. But who ever come in my thread will be asked about ISLAM because i told you something about ISLAM. I want to show you the similarity between each others. First we have to come to the term of unity stuff than we will talk about differentiality. If we donot talk about same thing which are in our religion than how will we understand each other. If we donot come to common terms than we will taunt each other and fight which you all are doing here with me. Thank You So Please common to the common term that is why i post these thread to come to the common terms first. Assalaam O Alaikyum

Hi tomshaikh …
I guess you know well arabic language. If so, you have to know that Asslaam O ALAykum is not Peace be with you. It is "Peace be ON you, For the term ala (arabic) is ON (English). and it you have to translate “peace be with you” in english, you should say assalaam O MAAkum, for the term Maa(arabic) is With (English).
So when Pope Jhon paul 2 came to Lebanon for a visit, He salute the people like this (in arabic terms) “Assalaam o maakum”.
In the other hand, are similar words good reasons for a religion to be true?! I believe not.

~ snip ~…

Do you know on isra and miraj Prophet Muhammad SAW leads prayer to all prophets which are 124000.
Interesting number of prophets established for islam.

Please tell us (or me) or link to a site of all of these 124,000 prophets and who are they.

I’d like to know because no muslim has been able to answer this question for me.

Thanks

where did i say i want to convert you. tell me. I want to show you the truth no revert you. NO WAY. For you your religion or for me mine. Thank you

You my dear have **not **read the rules of the forum - regardless of the sub-forum you are using, (name removed by moderator) as well as my self have pointed out the rules of CAF to you.

Indeed!

But then again, muslim to muslim, Hadi needs to engage in a conversation/debate with the OP. That’s my suggestion. I’ve also noticed our other muslim members have not entertained this thread.

Just my observation.

Duh! - smacks head - 😛

You are right - I’ve always said JCarnelian - I’m not the brightest star in the sky…

Be well and take care…

7 Sorrows,

You’re welcome. Yes, we still speak the Aramaic (Syriac) language as our common day to day family language, though we speak a modern dialect of it, and we speak a version of it known as “Eastern” Aramaic, as opposed to “Western” Aramaic, which is spoken by the Antiochenes. Jesus spoke what is known in scholarship as Jewish Palestinian Aramaic, which is very close to what we and the Antiochenes speak, since it is all part of the one Aramaic language.

In my own family, I grew up with three languages. My parents speak Aramaic with one another, but they chose to speak Arabic with us as children, and we speak English amongst each other as siblings. It’s pretty funny actually, we have all three languages going on at the same time! I have a relative here in the States who does not allow anything other than Aramaic to be spoken in his family, and so they speak Arabic and English outside, but within the family, Aramaic is what they speak. Many Chaldean and Assyrian families continue to guard the language from being forgotten or lost, and it remains to this day, the official and traditional language of our people.

Thank you for your prayers. 🙂

God bless,

Rony

i did wonder when mel gibson made the movie Passion of the Christ how they were able to have the actors speak aramaic. i thought that it was almost forgotten. so i am happy to read in your post that it remains very much in use today. i will continue to pray for all Chaldean and Assyrian families, especially those living in those countries where Catholics and Christians are persecuted. May God bless you!
