Do Catholic priests get some Sundays off?

I was blessed to know a retired priest, he was in his 90’s, he celebrated Mass every day in his room at the retirement home. There were always a handful of people there with him, he had a private nurse at all times and they were all Catholic, and many friends who made sure he did not celebrate alone.

I can take a vacation without it threatening my vocation.
Many of us have difficulty relating to the vocation of priesthood.
The only vocation we have experience with is marriage.
Perhaps a better explanation of the difference between vocational duties and work would be helpful.

At my parish, we also have an African priest who does the sameness thing.

Yes, I know this… I’m not the one objecting to the idea of priests going on vacation. Canon law also envisions being away on weekends sometimes. There’s a Canon that requires that a priest inform his ordinary or someone else in the chancery if he is to be away more than one full week at once. This would naturally involve being away on a weekend, and so the law seems to be aware that this will happen and isn’t forbidden.
