Do Catholics believe hell is eternal flames?

I would like to know, based on what the Church teaches, if Catholics are taught that hell is a place where you burn forever. Jehova’s Witnesses have been bombarding the population with this and saying we are ignorant to believe that a God of love would let his children burn in eternal flames. If we are not prepared to answer what we believe in a logical way, they will continue to gain followers.
