Do Catholics believe in Freedom of Religion?

Does Islam teach that non-Muslims are allowed freedom of religion?:rolleyes:

I for one am against Islam because it preaches hatred and intolerance against non-Muslims!

Why such a broad statement? I do not feel I have shown any anger towards non-Catholics in this forum, and I know for sure I haven’t been violent.

There are threads that I know are going to turn bad… They usually start out with "Sola…" or they end with “…Did you know?” Stay away from threads like that and I am sure that you will not see the anger and violence you speak of 👍

Yes, Islam teaches that non-Muslims are allowed freedom of religion! And more! They are to be treated with kindness and justice!

In Fact, Maryland (Mary’s Land) the only colony for Catholics, was the first colony to create Freedom of Religion! We were not welcome in the other colonies and in our own, we started what is now one of the most fundamental freedoms in our country…

How can you say that when you personally believe that ex-muslims should be killed an islamic caliphate theocracy?

Why do you keep saying this? I have explained this to you so many times! Treason is a crime.

All the same, the reason I repeat what I have said, that Islam commands freedom of religion, is because the Qur’an says explicitly laa ikraha fee deen!

I don’t know, really. But for some reason non-Muslims typically bring up the treason law of Islam whenever we mention religious freedom as if the two are related. I don’t think they are.

Sister Amy you are the one who brought up religious freedom though? So is it then treason for a Muslim to convert to a different religion? Is it s crime to practice this religious freedom to believe what one choses, or to cease to believe what one once believed?

I brought up freedom of religion in Catholicism, and when challenged explained that Islam teaches freedom of religion. In fact, the purpose of “jihad” is to establish freedom of religion.

It’s not a crime to practice religious freedom, or to change one’s beliefs. If it were, then nobody would be allowed to become a Muslim!

But when a person instead of changing his beliefs actually begins to attack the Muslim state, he is in effect committing treason.

Naturally this is not something which should exist today in the world, and unfortunately people are killed unjustly in some places of the world citing this reason. But in reality it doesn’t apply today.

So then it is not treason for a Muslim to become a Catholic or a Mormon or an atheist?

Or is it considered attacking the state if someone converts out of Islam?
