Do Catholics believe Protestants are going to hell?

[Janet1983]

I believe that it is heavily implied that Protestants are on the same line as even atheists, and that they are just as lost. A lot of Catholics try to sugar coat it by saying they hope some Protestants will be saved, while the implication is that they, unfortunately, will not be.

Wow… I’ve been told that I have a high chance of going to hell because I turned my back on the CC, but I never heard anything like this… Where specifically would you find that kind of a teaching in the CCC?

May God bless you.

In Him,
Janet

We just don’t know who’s going to be in heaven and who’s destined for hell. [SIGN1]We just don’t know.[/SIGN1]

I repeat: we have not been given information as to who is going to be in heaven.

(caveat: the CC has proclaimed some men and women are already in heaven, but the CC makes no declaration whatsoever as to whether Protestants–or anyone else for that matter–will be saved.)
