Do Catholics believe the Word of God to be totally true?

That is the general view I have when I speak to “Bible Christians/Born Again Christian.” They think the Bible itself is the Word of God. They seem to focus on the Bible sounds like Biblidolatry.

It kina looks like this to me.

Bible Christian Version:
In the Beginning was the Bible, and the Bible was with God, and the Bible is God, and the Bible became paper and dwelts amount us in the age of the printing press and ink. Thus the Word of God is the Bible.

Catholic Version:

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] He was in the beginning with God;
[3] all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
[4] In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
[5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
… fast forward to verse 14.
14. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.

Word of God is Jesus Christ (Catholic Interpretation)

I am not sure why Catholics are expending energy trying to refute the statement that Scripture is the Word of God. The Catholic Church teaches that it is. The declaration at the end of each reading is “The Word of the Lord” to which we respond, “Thanks be to God.”

103 For this reason, the Church has always venerated the Scriptures as she venerates the Lord’s Body. She never ceases to present to the faithful the bread of life, taken from the one table of God’s Word and Christ’s Body.

It is the Word of God but the Bible is not to be worship like Protestant worship it. They are too focus on the Bible rather than Jesus. Don’t you think that is rather freightening?

Christianity is NOT the religion of the Bible alone. Christianity is the religion of Jesus Christ, plain and simple. The Bible is collection of stories written by men inspired by God to write it. The author of Sacred Scripture is God himself. In that sense, it is the Word of God because God is the author of the Bible.

The Bible itself cannot save you. Only Jesus can save us. Since he is the Word of God (literally) made flesh and dwelt amongst us.
 
I was waiting for a few responses before I chimned in.
Most Catholics I know believe in evolution. Evolution is contrary to the bible.

It’s contrary to your interpretation, apparently, but not the Church’s.
