Do Catholics have to have godparents?

I am expecting my second child soon and I am wondering if it is necessary to have godparents for the baptism. There is no one right now that I feel is appropriate for the role and would opt to have no one vs. just choosing some one for convinience’s sake.
What do I need to do?
