Do Catholics ignore these scriptures?

I had not studied it much, I looked into it some a couple of weeks ago and I think the verse referenced in the OT refers more to a sin of disobedience.

Yes, it refers to fulfilling an obligation.

The question was, What does your Church (its governing authority) teach on the subject? For example, if “Linda and Steve” went to the pastor to ask his advice on the subject, what would he tell them is the will of God in this matter, according to the considered understanding of your church as a whole? (What do they teach the newlyweds in the marriage classes, or else in the young couples’ Bible study group?)

Its governing authority is the Bible. Our pastor goes verse by verse through scripture, as best as I can recall, it has never come up.
I do not know what he would say. We have had enough growth that members have formed seperate congregations and I am not sure what they would say.

We do not have marriage classes, we do not have young couple Bible study, we do have Bible studies but it is not by any certain age group and they all exist outside of the church, at peoples homes. Most of the time people should be visiting or doing something to win people to Christ.
Example, go paint someones store for free and have people stop by and win them to Christ.
Sitting around getting puffed up in pride when we could be witnessing would be odd for my church.

The point of winning a person to Christ and completely changing their life?? YOu cannot be serious. It is not a game, its lives ruined saved by the grace of God. Let me ask you a question, in the last year, how many people have set foot in a church because of your witnessing and became a baptized Christian? Seriousy, I lead a person to Christ almost every week and I stink at this compared to real soul winners like my pastor and others.
What good is it??? Come on, do you seriously think Christ teaches us that??? This is serious business. We are growing and outgrowing because we are bringing people whose lives are ruined and by sin. Our very best is as flithy rags to God. Its not a debate about a condom, its a kid with no stinking hope and then finding that hope in Jesus Christ.
This is crazy the stuff you are saying. IT matters, it saved my life, literally.

I have looked at John 6 extensively and do not think it is talking about the Last supper.

How come every one else believes it’s a symbol?” Right there, he was reading the plain face of Scripture, and came to the exact opposite conclusion you did. He went by “Scripture alone”, not the Catholic Church. What authority do you have to tell him he’s wrong? **

I admire this. I wish you WOULD apply your winning ways to those upper middle class couples. Fr. John Corapi says it’s easier to win a Hell’s Angel to Christ than a badly taught, highly educated middle class person. But those are the people who are shaping and doing the most damage to Christian culture.

I was curious about this issue as well and it was the greeks that answered it to my satisfaction. They say that the greek word for “hair” in this passage means to wear your hair as an adornment. It’s like a law against effeminate “pretty boys”.
