Do Catholics ignore these scriptures?

Please show me where I said you go to hell for not cutting your hair.
Did not happen.
Reread your first post. You claim that Catholic women who cut their hair are being disobedient to God. (People who are disobedient to God go to Hell; you realize that, right?)

People are always, everyday, sinful and disobedient to God.
Do you want to talk about what will get you in hell? Do we even agree on what hell is?

Yes, and so do most Protestant women. The only Christian women that do not cut their hair are Amish. By your standards, the only Christian women who are following the Bible correctly are the Amish. Do you expect everyone to convert to the Amish faith?
It’s right; The Amish women I know didn’t cut their hair. My sister was Amish for 5 years. She rolled it in such a compact fashion, into a bun, that it seemed her hair wasn’t long at all, but when she finally became “English” again (That’s what they call non-Amish) and took her hairpins out, her hair was really long.

I DO NOT belong to a denomination. I go to a church. It is a local church. It does not have an organization above it. I am most certainly not an adventist.
Unless Christ founded your little church or everyone who is Christian goes there, you DO belong to a denomination and your Pastor is the official interpreter of Scripture for you. That is unless he never comments on Scripture. What do you mean that it does not have an organization above it? You have no Pastor? Or are you all Pastors of this little local church? And if your little local Church is the one founded by Christ, how do the people in other countries get there? Just wondering…teachccd 🙂

I don’t think you should be that harsh to Rightlydivide. I’m Catholic, and I don’t agree with him on everything, but he’s sincere about what he believes, and I’m happy he’s not an atheist anymore.

Amen to that.

Share with me where Jesus taught that we are to only follow the Bible (specifically, New Testament) and each of us should be our own interpreters?
I believe that as many times Jesus said “it is written” satisfies the very strong emphasis he put upon following Scripture. He never said Scripture only and this I do agree but it never was established that one shouldn’t read Scripture and pray for discernment either. Why even have a Bible if you can’t read it and gain knowledge of God’s word?

As a matter of fact, in the Bible, Jesus Christ does not dispute the authenticity or authority of Moses’ Seat, i.e., the Oral Tradition of the Pharisees. When it comes up, He doesn’t say: “Don’t follow their vile oral teaching, only read the Scriptures and believe.” He did say, thoug, “Do as the Pharisees say, not as they do.” And that’s what happened: the oral tradition of the Old Church was made a part of the original Deposit of the Faith: Angelology, eschatology, the Ressurection, and a Final Judgement all come from the original Oral Tradition. The Sadducees were the first Sola Scripturists, I think. 😉

Since your post immediately followed mine I assume that you are talking to me. I do not consider myself being harsh unless the truth is harsh. Jesus let His disciples walk away when they couldn’t take His message concerning the eating of His flesh and drinking His blood. One can be very sincere in what they believe but when they continually refute 2000 years of truth they must be told. Ecumenism was never designed to undermine our beliefs for the sake of friendship. Jesus said that many would hate us because of His name. Now Rightlydivide does believe in Christ and I do believe that he is very sincere in his beliefs. But he should not continally bring down Catholicism on a Catholic forum. If he is here to learn that’s fine. If he questions our beliefs for the purpose of discernment, that is fine also. But if he thinks that he can proselytize this forum then he is in the wrong place.

This and many threads that he is on results in debating him on various Catholic issues. He’s not here, from my observation, to learn about our beautiful faith given to us by Christ but rather to promote his limited understanding of Christianity.

I am very happy that he is not an atheist anymore but not so happy with his efforts to “prove” us wrong. He knows that he was wrong as an atheist and grew from that. Hopefully he can see that this may happen again as he understands more fully our ancient faith…God Bless …teachccd

This post is to directly reply to the above comment knowing full and well that both posts are off topic .

Yes. I agree. My father does that all the time and get’s upset when I quote the Church Fathers and historians about the early Faith. But it’ll all work out. I won’t give up trying to convert my family, even after death, if that’s what it means.
Like my brother who was visiting my house. He saw the holy water font on the door and said, “what’s this?” he then proceeded to rub the holy water on his face. “Am I lucky for the rest of the day now?” 😊

I’d have said, “Careful, kid - you just washed off all your venial sins - that’s the first step to becoming a Saint!!” 😛

  • How does the papal tierra, mitre and so forth not violate what Paul is teaching
  • Do Catholicwomen pray with their head uncovered
  • Do Catholic men have long hair?
  • Do Catholic women cut their hair
  • Are these “commands of the Lord” that Paul is offering or are they simply his opinions? :hmmm:
  • Do they apply for all time and all cultures or for the time and culture of the people he was writing to? :ehh:

teachccd;3003343:
The authentic teachings of Christ were around in verbal form and possibly in some written form depending upon your perspective about what was written when. The problem arises when people take nonbiblical doctrines that did not come from Christ and call it Sacred Tradition.
What do you mean by verbal form? Do you know what is it? Please share it with us.

St. Cyril:

" . . . And if ever you are sojourning in cities, inquire not simply where the Lord’s House is (for the other sects of the profane also attempt to call their own dens houses of the Lord), nor merely where the Church is, but where is the Catholic Church. For this is the peculiar name of this Holy Church, the mother of us all . . . "
