Not ‘equal to’ but ‘part of’.

Again, heaven is not like earth. Time doesn’t exist there. In Heaven Scripture tells us we will know everything, see everything clearly. It’s not a question of being omnipresent; it’s a question of being united with God.

Do you think that it is possible to be in heaven and apart from God? To be in heaven and NOT to know what God knows? Does that make us gods? No. . .it is just that once we are joined to God in Heaven it is what He has planned for us. . . We don’t ‘get this’ on our own merit, you know. We don’t ‘generate the power’ ourselves. . .we are ‘given’ the gift of heaven and salvation AND ALL IT ENTAILS by God and God alone.
Are we the living not “part of”? Hebrews 4:16 states Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

If scripture states that Jesus is the only mediator, that indicates Mary and the saints cannot be mediators does it not?

She is the Mother of the Lord so yeah, it’s not like she was just any mother, but she is still a person, not a goddess. Nothing wrong with a Rosary. The prayers are Christocentric.
Mother of the Lord yes. Still a person yes. Able to receive our prayers? I think if this were the case at least one author of the Scriptures would have mentioned this.

Jesus is the only Mediator with the Father. We pray to Jesus through Mary. Mary intercedes for us praying to Jesus, her son.

2673* In prayer the Holy Spirit unites us to the person of the only Son, in his glorified humanity, through which and in which our filial prayer unites us in the Church with the Mother of Jesus.27 2674 Mary gave her consent in faith at the Annunciation and maintained it without hesitation at the foot of the Cross. Ever since, her motherhood has extended to the brothers and sisters of her Son "who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties."28 **Jesus, the only mediator, is the way of our prayer; Mary, his mother and ours, is wholly transparent to him: she “shows the way” (hodigitria), and is herself “the Sign” of the way, according to the traditional iconography of East and West. ***

Thanks for your explanation. But, how can millions around the world at any given time ask anything of anyone and be heard unless the person they are asking is omnipresent?
What do you know about what the Kingdom of God is like. Those that are no longer on this planet we believe as do you that they are in the Kingdom. In the Kingdom what can they do and not do, let me know.

So, are you saying that Mary and the saints are some how equal to Christ just because they are in heaven together?

How can Mary can hear millions of prayers every second and then mediate those prayers before the throne of God, while also protecting, guiding, helping all of those people that are at the hour of their deaths? Simply because they are in heaven with Christ gives them the attribute to be omnipresent?
Every Protestant asks friends and families to pray for them. How are those millions of prayers heard?

Jesus is the only Mediator with the Father. We pray to Jesus through Mary. Mary intercedes for us praying to Jesus, her son.
That would be two mediators no matter what differnet word you choose to use.

To communicate with another human by asking that person to pray for you could hardly be called prayer.

However to bow before an unseen entity and say special prayers for special favors is different, and by reasonable people could be seen as worship of another being other than God.
Get it off your chest. Do Catholics worship Mary? No it was condemned in the 3rd century. Every Catholic, probably every Orthodox, most Anglicans, Lutherans and a few Protestants know that. Guess you didn’t get the word.👍

Why then didn’t the authors of Scripture encourage this practice?

Try to follow along shall we…We are speaking of prayer here, not worship. Paranoid are we?

Do Catholics pray to Mary. I know this may sound like a juvenile question but it is bound to come up for those seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith.
Thanks…
It is the same as asking a friend to pray for you. We are asking her to pray for us… just as I ask St Benedict to pray for me, St. Joseph, etc…

We are not worshiping Mary.

Yes, Catholics do pray to the Blessed Mother.

I don’t see why others are making the answer so complicated.

So, 🤷 at the wedding at Cana the people went to Mary first and Mary went to Jesus to request more wine. Even though it was not yet his time, Jesus did the miracle anyways at his mother’s request. Thus we can feel confident that Jesus will answer our prayer if brought by his Mother.

Do you use a rosary when you ask your mother to pray for you? I keep hearing that this is an acceptable practice equal to asking a friend to pray for you. But, Mary is not just another person, at least not according to the Catholic Church.
If you have not the education to understand the rosary get one. The rosary is a meditation on mysteries. It is a fascinating way to engage the mind in prayer and at the same time meditate on the life of Christ. The rosary is a meditation.

Mary is not just another person. Look in your bible. In the gospel of Luke you will read as it concerns Mary…“all generations will call me blessed”. Out of respect and to follow the word please type “blessed Mary” everytime her name comes to you mind and you want to address the name.

Mary had the God/man in her womb. No one else did. Mary gave birth to the God/man. No one else did. Mary had the blood of Christ ciruclating through her body and even mainatined Christs embryonic cells in her body and Christ had hers. This is called chimerimsm. No one else has.

Yeah she is just another person that God selected to birth the saviour. No one else was selected.👍

God only answers prayers that are according to his will, no other reason.

Ummm… because they are prayed to Jesus and not his mother?
So? that is what we are doing, asking (praying to) Mary to pray to Jesus for us. 🤷 Mary is alive in heaven, thus it is the same as asking your friend to pray to Jesus for us.

You will find that this attitude of instruction " try follow along" and using “shall we” will merit little favor here. We, not you are speaking of prayer. I would be cautious of declaring and inferring something that you have no knowledge of. We are not amused, and you are less than insightful. We shall discuss again.😃

Which disciple used rosaries? Was it their invention or was it a pagan practice long before Jesus?

The author of Scripture chose to put the request of blessed Mary in the dialogue. It could have been written…there was a wedding, they ran out, and water was changed into wine to satisfy the need. The author, Holy Spirit, God chose to use blessed Mary in the story.:D:thumbsup:

You might want to consider that this is Catholic Answers.👍
