Do Catholics worship (adore) the Cross?

Hi! I’ve encountered the phrase “adoration of the Cross” in a lot of Catholic sources. There is the Good Friday “Adoration of the Cross.” I even have a prayer book with an imprimi potest with a prayer entitled “I adore you, O Holy Cross” and which says “I worship you, O Holy Cross.” St. Thomas Aquinas even said that the Cross should be adored with “latria.” Can you shed some light on this?
