My friend said when one worships God Father through Jesus Christ, they are worshipping the unity of the Christ (God the Head) and his flock (Body). So we are indirectly worshipping saints. Please help me refute the argument. Thanks in advance.

Wow, your friend has odd ideas. Is your friend a Christian? Because the exact argument would apply to any Christian.

When a saint is in union with God, they are not substantially united with him. That is, they do not assume the nature of God. When we worship God, we only worship the infinite persons who posses the divine nature.

Catholics. Don’t. Worship. Saints.

We ask them to pray for us.

I doubt very much that this is a Protestant argument but rather a non Christian argument directed toward Catholics I. E. The church militant and church triumphant in which we believe the body and head are unified as one with the head (Christ) and ultimately the trinity through that connection.

Unique argument, I’ll say that.

We do not worship saints any more than we worship a beloved fellow Catholic sitting in the pew behind us. We honor them, love them, and ask them to pray for us. We use them as examples.

My suggestion would be to utilize 1 Cor 12: 12 -31, one does not worship ones own hand or eye. Also Eph 4: 4-16. The Holy Spirit ( to use an analogy) is like the life blood of the church coursing through the body to supply what each part of the body needs.

Even if this were true, every person worshipping God, including protestants, would be worshipping saints.
