Do Christians walk on water?

Re: miraculous ice cream, apparently it happened more than once. (Which could argue for a well-insulated desk drawer.) But there was miraculous multiplication of ice cream cones on the occasion I heard about, and apparently that also happened more than once.

So yeah, not as big as St. Martin de Porres miracles, but pretty impressive versus the normal laws of physics. (And obviously not as important as his prayers healing the sick, his prophecies, his evangelization, etc.)

I’m surprised no one mentioned the lives of the saints? Miracles, healings, apparitions, levitations.

Bear in mind, to Jesus, forgiving sins was greater than His visible miracles (Mark 2:9-12). Confession would absolutely fit as a “greater thing”. In other words, it’s not necessarily a visible miracle.

That said, as already mentioned, some saints do have miracles attributed to them in their earthly lives. In some cases, such as St. Francis Xavier, they may have dozens to hundreds.
 
According to the Fathers of the Desert, the Abba Besarion walked on water.
 
Had He been using figurative language, Christ would have explained that to the followers who walked away.

Along the same lines, a friend had a picture of someone waterskiing on the sea of Galilee.
 
St Maurice walked on water in obedience to an order from St Benedict.
 
Sure, I walk in water all the time, when there is puddles of water on the street. I’m sorry for joking. Not sorry. I felt the joking coming on. I don’t want it to be hurtful. Laugh w me. Jesus walked on water! I’ve never heard of anyone else fldokng that.
Mark 16: 15-18
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

But, I never heard of the water trick from us. Faith is strong, we can say to the storm,”CALM YOU, SEAS!” or something like that.
There is a way God wants us to shape our Spirits to be in tune w His. Whatever gifts, God gives us, it all comes from His Spirit. Praying for a miracle… pray, knowing it’s done? I don’t have that perfected. Hopefully, you’ll get there.

Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

It is important to read the bible in context.

The two earlier verses show Jesus saying,
"Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me?
The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own.
Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.
Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me
—or at least believe on account of the works themselves."

The context: Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.
A disciple of Jesus, who is, like Mary, a servant of our LORD, does all his doings in service, and does not do anything for himself or from some self invented plan. And because he is the LORD’s servant, everything he does is the Father and the Son doing it in him, doing it through him. Do you remember what Jesus said to Peter when Peter stood out in front to block him and to invent a new road for Jesus to walk (away from the Cross)? Jesus said, “Go back BEHIND me, you Satan.” BEHIND is the place of service, doing what we see Jesus doing.

We only do the things we are called to do; we do not think up or invent miracles to do to prove we can do mighty works
  • Jesus did not try to prove to Satan that he was the Son of God by changing stones into bread
  • We do not try to prove we can do great works by trying to walk on water
    If God ever wants water walked on again, his servant will do it, but a self-proving self-serving self-righteous non-servant will not do it. What did Satan say when he refused to turn to God? “I will not SERVE”.
Our Goal: Not to alienate the Holy Spirit from dwelling in us. The Father and Son, dwelling in us, known as the Holy Spirit, show us all that we should do in service so that the Gospel goes into the world and his Light Shines in what we do.

I’ve read quite a bit about Father Solanus and I recall one story about ice cream cones in his desk. He’d already got them, but didn’t eat them and put them in his drawer. At some point someone told him some good news and they celebrated with the ice cream.

I’d like to know your sources for these multiple ice cream miracles?

The same problem exists with Padre Pio, it’s like Chinese whispers.
 
In the same vein raising the dead just requires lifting.

And moving mountains is probably illegal

So we’ve cracked all three requirements!

Maybe not literally, but figurative, indeed. Just one example is St. Teresa of Calcutta and all she did for the poor and dying. If you look closely, you will see plenty of saintly Christians “walking on water”, yet still being sinners, you may see them sinking like Peter did, and like Peter reaching out for Christ to be saved!

St John Vianney, St John Bosco, and padre Pio all had the gift of being able to read souls.

Jesus was the only one who walked on water. He was able to do it because He’s God. If randos like me could do it, it would have been on YouTube a long time ago.
