Ive been meaning to ask this, but have always been afraid it would make me look stupid. Anyway, I was wondering if crucifixes really are supposed to ward off things like witchcraft and demons, or if thats just in movies. The reason I ask is that I might have to spend some time in a masonic lodge tomorrow (dont ask, my school is weird like that) and if these work I might stop by the catholic store down the street and buy one. 🤷

Please do not use the Crucifix in a superstitious manner. That is all I have to say about it.

You are thinking of crucifixes as if they have some kind of innate power. This is a classic mistake of superstition, which roots from a truth, that is, that crucifixes are holy things.

Remember this one key point: any spiritual power that may be attributed to a physical object is not power that comes from the object itself, but from God. The reason that holy things such as crucifixes, holy water, rosaries, and other objects are used in spiritual warfare is because Christians use them to help them pray, and ask for God’s help in fighting the demons.

Therefore, yes, buying holy things is a good practice. But no, you shouldn’t test God by trusting in some piece of metal (in the shape of a crucifix) to protect you from demonic influences. I highly recommend that you avoid going to this masonic lodge, but it you must, use prayer and supplication to protect you, not physical things.

It certainly cannot hurt. We as Catholics need to beware of superstition though, Satan and demons are real, but they shouldn’t be taken lightly. An inanimate object is only a symbol due to the faith behind the object.

You know, this actually makes a lot of sense. Ill give it a shot. And no, unfortunately, I cant avoid going in there, because somebody thinks it’s a good idea to have standardized tests in cult houses of worship. Thank you

It depends, I would say. A Crucifix, at least worn or held with faith, should ward off at least lower level demons, even if not blessed, but the higher level ones are different and it may take more than that to ward them off a given time, depending on what their exact purposes are and if a gateway has been opened to them by you (like by playing with a Oauji board for instance.) Also, God may ward off any demon at any given time, of course.

Anyway, I’m not sure that Masons have anything directly to do with demons (although I have a theory that they are–at least those in the higher levels,) but wearing a Crucifix, especially a blessed one, is almost always a good idea. I wear one and feel safer for it. It is important to keep in mind though, that priestly blessings are MUCH more powerful than the Crucifixes themselves and that so is faith in God, of course. If you are ever protected by wearing one, you are really being protected by God.

catholics don’t believe in talismans or lucky charms

if you believe in the power of jesus’ sacrifrice on the cross you can’t go wrong

it is what is in your HEART THAT COUNTS

purchase the least expensive rosary beads for sale;; and pray the ROSARY EVERY DAY UNTIL LITERALLY THE BEADS MELT INTO YOUR FINGERS

THEN BUY ANOTHER; ; REPEAT

I’m glad to have been able to be of assistance. 🙂

If I were going to a Masonic lodge, through no choice of my own, I probably would wear a crucifix. I wouldn’t wear it to ward off evil, but as a witness of Christ and a witness of my beliefs, in the hope that the Holy Spirit would tug at the hearts of those who would see it.

I agree…and I might add that it is the right thing to do to have the crucifix, rosary, medal, water, blessed by the priest. That sets it apart to be used for the glory of God.

And never to forget prayer…as you mentioned.

We live in a material world, and are not created to be pure spirit like the angels, so we do use material things to remind us of holy things.

Yes & PERHAPS:D

If BLESSED and used with TRUE FAITH!👍

I’d certainly want a crucifix on my person if I were battling evil. In fact, I wear one every day because the world is the world. I believe in the spiritual power supporting our symbols.

A blessed object in your pocket is only a positive thing.

I carry a rosary around, though the crucifix fell off. 😦
